DK Metcalf and A.J. Brown will face off on Monday Night Football. However, the two current day rivals were once college teammates and best friends.

When you look at the top receivers in the NFL, two names who commonly come into the conversation are the Philadelphia EaglesA.J. Brown and the Seattle SeahawksDK Metcalf. The two have been NFL stars for years.

However, they both were once teammates at Ole Miss. Now, the two former teammates are facing off on Monday Night Football in Week 15.

When Did A.J. Brown and DK Metcalf Go to College Together?

Brown was born on June 30, 1997, in Starkville, Mississippi. He attended Starkville High School, where he played both football and baseball. In his senior season, he caught 83 passes for 1,371 yards and 13 touchdowns. He committed to Ole Miss as a consensus four-star prospect.

Metcalf, on the other hand, was born on December 14, 1997, in Oxford, Mississippi. He attended Oxford High School, where he caught 224 passes for 3,302 yards and 49 touchdowns. He, like Brown, was a four-star prospect and signed with Ole Miss.

The two both played at Ole Miss for three seasons from 2016-2018. Brown caught 189 passes for 2,984 yards and 19 touchdowns. Metcalf caught just 67 passes for 1,228 yards and 14 touchdowns. The two combined for 256 receptions, 4,212 yards, and 33 touchdowns.

“We didn’t like each other coming out of high school because we always played against each other, but then, we got to Ole Miss together. We knew we were going to be a tandem to be dealt with. I needed him, and he needed me, and we put our differences aside and started working together,” said Metcalf, according to SI.com.

Both receivers were taken early in the 2018 NFL Draft. Metcalf was taken by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round with the 64th overall pick, while Brown was taken with the 51st overall pick by the Tennessee Titans. He was later traded to the Eagles during the 2022 NFL Draft.

In five seasons, Brown has caught 363 passes for 5,749 yards and 42 touchdowns. In just 2023, he has recorded 90 receptions for 1,258 yards and seven scores. Meanwhile, in the NFC West, Metcalf has caught 357 passes for 5,082 yards and 42 touchdowns in his career and 51 passes for 864 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

“A.J. is the ultimate competitor, one of my good friends, and I definitely would not be in front of you all today if he wasn’t my teammate. Just hats off to him and congratulations to everything he’s done since he’s got in the league,” said Metcalf.

With the two facing off on Monday Night Football, it will be the second time they have played against each other in their careers. The first time came in 2021 when the Titans defeated the Seahawks.
