There’s never a good time to suffer a concussion, but the week before a bye is probably the best time from a competitive standpoint.
That’s when Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane suffered his, which could allow him to not miss a single game. What’s the latest on Achane’s concussion, and will he play in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts?
Will Miami Dolphins RB De’Von Achane Play in Week 7?
Achane, who was concussed during Miami’s Week 5 win over the New England Patriots, was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
After wearing a red non-contact jersey earlier in the week as part of the NFL’s concussion protocol, he was able to practice without any limitations.

On Friday, Achane revealed that he has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol, so he’s good to go for Sunday’s game against the Colts. Achane doesn’t even have an injury designation for Week 7, which is a great sign.
Achane’s return gives Miami its full complement of running backs in Indianapolis, giving them a chance to build some momentum on the ground.
Against New England, the Dolphins went for a season-high 193 yards on 41 carries. Only the Los Angeles Rams have allowed more rushing yards per game than the Colts (155.2).
Achane’s Fantasy Outlook
While a concussion typically forces a player to miss at least one game, Miami’s Week 6 bye came at the perfect time.
This is truly the measure of which unit is more inept – Achane hasn’t posted a top-30 finish since Tua Tagovailoa went down, but the Colts are as friendly to opposing running games as anyone, having already allowed seven backs to reach double-digit PPR fantasy points (with Joe Mixon and Tank Bigsby both lighting them up for over 25 points).
In a league geared toward the offense, I tend to lean in that direction in matchups like this, and that is how I land with Achane as a top-15 option.
He’s like Saquon Barkley in that every touch is a touch in scoring position, and with 21 catches on 23 targets this season, his efficiency in the passing game should be enough to land him in starting lineups at the bare minimum.
More Dolphins Injury News
The bye week was a helpful one for a banged-up Dolphins roster.
Safety Jevon Holland (who broke his hand in Week 5) was among the players spotted on the field during the portion of practice. He did have some sort of padded wrap on his injured left hand.
Dolphins 10.14 practice report:
Emmanuel Ogbah, Jordan Poyer, Mohamed Kamara, and David Long not spotted.

So it’s possible Holland won’t miss any time — which certainly would help since Jordan Poyer remains sidelined with a shin injury.
Quarterback Skylar Thompson continues to recover from the chest injury he suffered in Week 5 and participated in some capacity in Monday’s practice.
Along with Poyer, three other Dolphins defenders were not spotted during Monday’s media availability: EDGEs Emmanuel Ogbah and Mohamed Kamara and linebacker David Long Jr.
