De’Von Achane Injury Update: When Will Miami Dolphins Rookie Play Again?

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel provided an injury update for rookie running back De'Von Achane.

Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel on Monday provided an update on rookie De’Von Achane, who suffered a shoulder injury two days earlier in the team’s preseason game against the Houston Texans.

    The upshot?

Achane avoided significant injury and is “week-to-week,” per McDaniel.

McDaniel did not commit to having Achane available in Week 1 but also didn’t seem overly concerned about the rookie missing significant time.

    De’Von Achane Injury Update

Those comments track with the evaluation of some Twitter doctors who speculated that Achane suffered an AC joint sprain. The timeline to return for a mild shoulder sprain is two to three weeks.

The Dolphins open the regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers in 20 days.

Achane’s final play of the game came around the 10-minute mark of the third quarter. He ran up the middle and into a wall of Texans defenders, gaining six yards before getting slung backwards by defensive tackle Khalil Davis.

Achane landed on his left side, and as he came off the field, he was in obvious discomfort, flexing his left hand.

The Dolphins’ medical team sent him to the locker room via cart for further evaluation, and he was not seen again. That was Achane’s sixth and final carry of the game.

Earlier in the game, Achane was slammed to the ground with a pro wrestling move by Eric Murray, although it does not appear as though he got hurt on that play.
