Fantasy Injury Update: De’Von Achane, Dameon Pierce, and Antonio Gibson Impacting Week 12 Waiver Wire

There are several key RBs dealing with injuries heading into Week 12. What's the latest on De'Von Achane, Dameon Pierce, and Antonio Gibson?

With the fantasy football playoffs looming, the last thing fantasy managers want to deal with is injuries. What is the most recent injury news regarding De’Von Achane, Dameon Pierce, and Antonio Gibson?

    RB Injury Updates

    De’Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins

Every Achane fantasy manager was ecstatic to see him return to the field on Sunday, but that joy changed quickly as Achane exited early with another knee injury after only one carry. He seemed to reaggravate the same knee that kept him on injured reserve for four weeks, and it is uncertain where he stands heading into a short week. Miami plays on Friday.

When asked if Achane would be able to go this week, head coach Mike McDaniel said, “There’s a chance that he will and he won’t … I definitely would not rule him out, but would definitely not rule him in, either.”

If Achane cannot play this week, expect Raheem Mostert to be the RB1 once again. Salvon Ahmed could also have a role, but he was evaluated for a concussion on Sunday, so keep informed on that status.

    Dameon Pierce, RB, Houston Texans

Houston Texans RB Pierce has now missed three weeks due to an ankle injury. He was limited in practice last week, leading up to the Week 11 game against Arizona, but he was ultimately inactive.

Without Pierce, Devin Singletary has been absolutely spectacular for the Texans. In Week 10, he was the RB3, and in Week 11, he was the RB4. All signs point to Pierce returning this week, barring a setback, but it is hard to imagine a world where Pierce slides right back into the RB1 role with the success Singletary has had.

Monitor the practice reports heading into Week 12 to keep apprised of Pierce’s status.

    Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington Commanders

Gibson has been battling a toe injury for the last couple of weeks, but even with that issue, he has been contributing to fantasy rosters. He was RB18 in Week 9 and RB16 in Week 10. Gibson did not play in Week 11, and he didn’t log any practice leading up to the game.

It is a short week for the Washington Commanders, who play on Thursday in their Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys and therefore did not practice Monday. They released an estimated practice report, and Gibson was listed as limited. Managers will have to monitor the practice reports and have a pivot option available if Gibson has to miss another game.

If Gibson remains sidelined, the RB4 on the season, Brian Robinson Jr., could be in line for more carries, but against a stout Dallas defense, he is a scary start.
