We’ve passed the halfway point of the 2023 fantasy football season. Fantasy players can now see which of their draft picks were an excellent selection and which they were better off leaving for someone else in the league.
This week, four teams are on a bye, leaving fantasy players with some difficult decisions, especially at the running back position. One of those decisions could be between starting Houston Texans RB Devin Singletary or Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. Let’s dive into it.
Should You Start Devin Singletary or Brian Robinson Jr. This Week?
According to the Pro Football Network Start/Sit Optimizer, PFN’s Consensus Rankings say Robinson is the player to start. He is projected to score 9.6 half-point PPR fantasy points. His projections include 68 rushing yards, 0.2 rushing touchdowns, one reception, 6.4 receiving yards, and 0.1 receiving touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Singletary’s projection is for 8.8 fantasy points with 38.8 rushing yards, 0.2 rushing touchdowns, 2.5 receptions, 18.2 receiving yards, and 0.1 receiving touchdowns this week.
I agree with the optimizer. However, my opinion will change if Dameon Pierce misses his third consecutive game with an ankle injury. Both running backs are part of a 1-2 punch in their team’s backfield. However, Singletary had a massive performance with Pierce sidelined in Week 10.
Singletary’s Fantasy Outlook This Week
The veteran running back is the RB46 for the year, averaging 7.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has scored fewer than 9.4 fantasy points in all but one contest. However, that lone exception was last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Singletary had 30 rushing attempts for 150 yards and a touchdown in the victory. He ended the week as the RB3, scoring 22.6 fantasy points.

Following his impressive performance in Week 10, Singletary has an outstanding fantasy matchup on Sunday. The Arizona Cardinals have surrendered 24.5 fantasy ppg to running backs, the third most in the NFL.
Over the past three weeks, Arizona has given up 108.3 rushing yards, 1.7 touchdowns, and 27 fantasy points per game to RBs. Singletary has top-15 upside if Pierce can’t play against the Cardinals.
Robinson’s Fantasy Outlook This Week
Last week, Robinson was the RB1, scoring 24.7 fantasy points in half-point formats against the Seattle Seahawks.
The second-year player only had eight rushing attempts for 38 yards in the loss. However, he had six receptions for 119 receiving yards and a touchdown — all season highs. More importantly, the former Alabama star is now the RB4 for the year, averaging 13.2 fantasy points per game.
This week, Robinson takes on the New York Giants, who have surrendered 21.7 points on average to RBs, the ninth most in the NFL. Over the past two weeks, New York has given up 118 rushing yards, 1.5 touchdowns, and 23 fantasy points per game to the position.
However, Robinson was disappointing in the Week 7 matchup against New York. He had only eight rushing attempts for 23 yards and 8.3 fantasy points in the loss.
