Derrick Henry Free Agency Landing Spots: Remaining Suitors Include Ravens, Cowboys, Texans

Putting up memorable numbers as a Tennessee Titan, free agent RB Derrick Henry is patiently waiting to find out where his new home will be.

NFL free agency kicked off on Monday, and running backs have already been flying off the board, as Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard, and others have found new homes.

One top free agent at the position who is still available, however, is former Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry. With many potential landing spots already signing players at the position, who are Henry’s remaining suitors in free agency?

Despite posting a career-low 4.2 yards per attempt this past season and peaking over 30 years old, Henry is still one of the most fearful running backs in the sport.

There is still a ton of time remaining for Henry, the former Alabama bulldozer, to find a new home, but a contending AFC or NFC team should be in the mix, and the expectation is Henry’s name is taken off the board very soon.

Join Forces With Lamar Jackson in Baltimore

Known for producing excellent talent at the running back position, the Baltimore Ravens should be begging for Henry.

Baltimore, having lost Gus Edwards in free agency on Monday, needs a bit of an upgrade at the position. It’s basically a dream scenario if you are HC John Harbaugh and OC Todd Monken, right?

One of the most explosive quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson, paired with a dangerous running back in Henry.

    Make the call, Eric DeCosta.

The Tony Pollard Replacement in Dallas?

Once upon a time, the Dallas Cowboys had one of the more talented running back duos in Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.

With both out of Jerry World, the Cowboys are another team for a potential Henry add.

At the start of the offseason, owner Jerry Jones alerted members of the Cowboys media he was looking at an “all-in” approach. After yet another disappointing end to a season, do not be stunned to see Jones upgrade the roster.

Whether that comes on the offensive side, defensive, or both remains to be seen, however.

Team Up With C.J. Stroud in Houston

Fresh off a surprise playoff berth and Wild Card Round victory, the Houston Texans appear poised to take the next step in 2024 led by reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud.

With an elite quarterback on a rookie contract, the Texans have plenty of salary cap flexibility to maximize this window with Stroud on a bargain deal, particularly on offense.

After Devin Singletary departed for the Giants today, the Texans have an even bigger need for a running back and seem like a very logical suitor for Henry.

Could He Join Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane in Miami?

Head coach Mike McDaniel will not say it directly to your face, but the Dolphins may add a third true running back this offseason to an already speedy room.

One of the reasons Henry would be a great fit down in Miami Gardens, Fla., is the scheme McDaniel puts together for his running backs.

This past season, the running back was involved heavily in the Dolphins’ high-octane offense, and adding Henry to the equation would take the unit to even greater heights.

Born and raised in Yulee, Fla., the Dolphins know Henry well, having played him five times since 2016.
