Earlier in the week, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders discussed his decision to re-release his famous custom line of cleats and shoes. While appearing on X alongside the popular account “Complex Sneakers,” Coach Prime outlined his connection to Michael Jordan, one of the most influential athletes both on and off the court.
Jordan is the namesake of the popular subdivision of Nike footwear and clothing — The Air Jordan Brand.

What Did Deion Sanders Say About Michael Jordan?
Sanders made clear that he respected Jordan and everything he stood for. However, Coach Prime also highlighted how it was his desire to create, develop, and grow a footwear brand of his own.
The popular Buffaloes fan account “@JaKiTruth” reposted the video on X and provided a description and analysis of Sanders’ statements in the clip.
“🔥 Coach Prime & MJ. A Special Connection. Custom Shoes ‘I love Jordan. I respect the heck out of him. It was like bonding with a brother from another mother. I think he is the greatest that ever will be. I wanted my own brand, I wanted to do my own thing’ 📽️ @ComplexSneakers,” the post was captioned.
Sanders’ Future Outlook
As is clear from the video, Sanders is in the midst of various off-field ventures, including relaunching his shoe brand. Furthermore, his son, Shedeur Sanders, is widely expected to be taken quite high in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft this April. In PFSN’s recent 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Sanders was selected No. 2 overall by the Cleveland Browns.
On the field, Sanders is still the head coach of the Buffaloes program and has been instrumental in the program’s success in recent years. This past year, the Buffaloes had a great campaign, finishing fourth in the Big 12 conference with an impressive 9-4 overall record.
This offseason, there were rumors that Sanders could make the move to the NFL, and more specifically, the Dallas Cowboys. However, after it was announced that Brian Schottenheimer would become the next head coach of “America’s Team,” it appears as though Coach Prime will be remaining in college football with the Buffaloes for at least one more season.
