Deion Sanders Speculates Hidden Agenda Behind Criticism of Shedeur Sanders, Reveals Projected 2025 NFL Draft Range

Deion Sanders shared some eye-opening advice with Shedeur Sanders as his gifted son navigates the noise ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The consensus among the NFL community is that Shedeur Sanders will go early in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s constantly in the spotlight, whether being hyped or criticized, so naturally, his famous dad has given him advice on how to handle everything.

Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in his last season with the Colorado Buffaloes. He’s going to have his choice of suitors, with rumors spreading of teams trading up to grab him in Round 1.

Deion Sanders knows a thing or two about quieting the din, especially when it comes to the national media. He has been in his son’s ear to silence the outside noise.

Deion Sanders Tells Shedeur Sanders: ‘Embrace the Moment’

Deion was the No. 5 overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft, so he’s no stranger to the process. He knows everything his son is going through right now because he’s been through it himself.

Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Deion shared exactly what he’s been telling Shedeur in recent weeks as the media scrutiny intensifies. His main piece of advice: Teams are leaking out negative information in an effort to drop his draft stock.

“I told him, first of all, don’t believe nothing they say,” Deion said. “People are going to criticize you so you can fall to them, so don’t believe none of that. It’s positioning right now. But he’s speaking to the guys that make the moves so he’s not listening to the media.”

Shedeur needs to block everything they say out, focusing instead on the heart-to-heart conversations he’s having with the coaches and general managers interested in drafting him. Shedeur is turning his energy on the first three teams on the board — the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants.

“He’s speaking to head coaches, GMs, and all that of the first three teams, pretty much, because that’s where we think he’s going to land, somewhere in there,” Deion said. “But my advice to him is, ‘Just embrace the moment.’ But he’s so poised and polished, like, he get it, man. Shedeur, he been riding with me for a long time so he really get it.”

PFSN Sends Sanders to the New York Jets

Pro Football Sports Network’s Justin Lewis put Shedeur Sanders in a New York Jets uniform in his latest 2025 NFL mock draft. They pulled off a blockbuster trade to move up from No. 7 to No. 3 to land Aaron Rodgers’ replacement.

“The New York Jets have hired Aaron Glenn as their next head coach while also announcing they were moving on from Aaron Rodgers,” Lewis wrote. “It is unlikely that the Jets will have a reunion with Sam Darnold or Zach Wilson. This is an organization that needs a star — and there might not be a bigger star in the draft than Shedeur Sanders.”

Meanwhile, PFSN’s Ben Rolfe had Sanders heading to the Cleveland Browns at pick No. 2. He noted some outlying concerns about the Colorado quarterback’s arm strength, not enough to drop him down further into Round 1.

“Sanders is a promising NFL prospect. He is a pocket passer with enough mobility to make him effective,” Rolfe wrote. “There are concerns about his arm strength, but he mitigates those with his compact release and impressive accuracy. Those mechanics can hide concerns when pressured, which is a concern with the Browns’ offensive line ranking 20th last season.”

Cam Ward is the other top-rated quarterback on the board. Those two players were spotted working out together and arguing about their completion percentages. Sanders finished at 71.8% last season at Colorado; Ward finished at 67.2% last season at Miami.
