Shilo Sanders didn’t get an official invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine, but that didn’t stop him from recording a video and putting everyone on notice about his football future.
Sanders, who underwent surgery for a broken forearm last September, remains committed to proving his many doubters wrong. The 6’0″, 195-pounder was getting rave reviews for his 40-yard dash time during a training session in preparation for his upcoming Colorado Pro Day in late March.
Sanders recorded 67 total tackles in 10 starts for the Buffaloes last season. He also turned heads in the East-West Shrine Bowl back in January.

Shilo Sanders Posted Personal Best in 40-Yard Dash
Sanders might not be getting the same buzz as his more famous brother, Shedeur, but his talent is hard to ignore. The 25-year-old safety was accepting high fives from Andreu Swasey — strength and conditioning coach at Colorado — in a viral clip showing him training hard for his Pro Day (March 18-21).
In it, Swasey says: “That was your best start ever, dude!” His official 40 time wasn’t spoken out loud or recorded on the video. Sanders himself can be heard saying: “I didn’t get invited to the combine, but I brought the combine to me.”

Sanders hired Zybek Sports — the company in charge of officially timing athletes at the NFL Combine — to chart his 40-yard dash times.

Despite not being invited to work out in Indianapolis, the standout defensive back is doing everything he can to get on scouts’ radars. The top 40 time at the NFL Combine among cornerbacks was 4.28 seconds, posted by Kentucky’s Maxwell Hairston. Seven players recorded sub-4.40 runs.
East-West Shrine Bowl Standout
Sanders was graded an honorable mention by NFL Media’s Chad Reuter for his performance in the East-West Shrine Bowl. He tallied a pass breakup and made a crucial third-down stop in the fourth quarter en route to five total tackles.

Sanders is being mocked as either a late-round flier or a priority free agent by most draft analysts. PFSN’s Ben Rolfe predicted the Cleveland Browns using the final pick of the 2025 NFL Draft (No. 257 overall) on him.
Deion Sanders Sends Son Reality Check
Sanders finished his injury-plagued 2024 campaign with 67 total tackles, plus two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries (one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown), one forced fumble, and two tackles for loss in 10 games.
Scouts have hyped his jarring physicality and route anticipation, although missed tackles and sloppy footwork have been cited by his detractors.
It’s not automatic that Shilo finds a home in the NFL on draft night. His famous dad Deion didn’t hide the truth when discussing what the future might hold. Remember, Deion had the privilege of coaching both his sons — Shilo Sanders and Shedeur Sanders — at the University of Colorado.
“Shilo has a situation where he gotta work his butt off to go where he wants to go, you know, whatever round that’s gonna be,” Sanders told the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast. “But, he’s always had it tough. … He’s resilient, though, so God has always worked with him that way. He’s gonna have to really go get it.”
