The Colorado Buffaloes, led by Deion Sanders, finished their 2024 regular season with a bang, winning 52-0 over the Oklahoma State Cowboys this past Friday. This game could be their last of the campaign, and Coach Prime’s son, Colorado safety Shilo Sanders, made sure not to miss a chance to celebrate.
Deion Sanders Playfully Calls Out His Son
After recovering a fumble, Shilo ran to the end zone and celebrated with a dance that mimicked his father’s move from his 1994 song, “Must Be the Money.” Grooving and dancing, he hyped up his teammates on the sidelines.
Coach Prime later uploaded the video on Instagram with a four-worded hilarious question:
“What’s wrong with @shilosanders ? 😂😂”

This dance was different from the “Deion Shuffle,” a signature move that the elder Sanders’ two sons have often performed after making big plays. The dance move was one that Coach Prime himself used to do during his NFL playing days.

As for the game, Shilo Sanders recorded four solo tackles and a fumble recovery. Meanwhile, quarterback Shedeur Sanders passed for 438 yards and broke the program’s single-season passing record.
This season, Shedeur has amassed 3,926 passing yards, surpassing Koy Detmer’s record of 3,527 yards set in 1996. Sanders also threw five touchdown passes against Oklahoma State, bringing his season total to a school-record 35.
With this, Sanders’ path to the NFL has become clearer. In Pro Football Network’s most recent NFL mock draft, Shedeur was taken No. 1 overall by the New York Giants.
“The days of statuesque passers are a thing of the past. Shedeur Sanders is the evolution of the pocket passer. He’s athletic enough to get on the hoof and pick up first downs with his legs, but many might be surprised to hear he’s not close to the athlete his father was. Instead, he fits into the Geno Smith or C.J. Stroud-like mold.
“His almost instantaneous release makes up for what is only a slightly above-average arm. It lets him consistently test tight windows, and his class-best accuracy helps his projection as a long-time NFL starter.
“His pressure-to-sack rate and willingness to hold onto the ball could, and should, cause some concern. However, the context to that is he’s also operated on an NFL timeline for the past two seasons behind arguably one of the worst offensive lines in the country.”
Rumors of a Sanders Departure to the NFL Might Be Finished
There’s been talk about Deion Sanders possibly becoming the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and replacing Mike McCarthy in the upcoming offseason. However, it may not happen as some might expect.
Coach Prime, who played for the Cowboys in the 1990s and won a Super Bowl with them, has had some incredible experiences in Boulder coaching the Buffaloes. With him at the helm, the Buffs, once in the dredges of standings, have become possible championship contenders.
Some had speculated that he would follow his son, Shedeur Sanders, who is projected to be a top pick in the NFL Draft, to the big league. However, now that Colorado is attracting strong recruits, like quarterback Julian Lewis and offensive lineman Carde Smith, and given how well things are going for the team, Coach Prime may be less likely to leave.
Sanders has also repeatedly told the media that he’ll be staying in Boulder when asked.
“I’m happy where I am, man,” Sanders said. “I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? … That means I’m resting. I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do.”
Sanders even went as far as to look to the future, mentioning his impressive class of recruits. “It says a lot about what we plan on being and the stability that we’re going to be here for a while,” he said. “We ain’t going nowhere. We’re about to get comfortable.”
