Coach Prime to Las Vegas? Raiders Minority Owner Tom Brady May Push Team To Hire Deion Sanders As Next Head Coach

    Published on

Will Raiders minority owner Tom Brady push the team to hire Deion Sanders as their next head coach? People in NFL circles believe it's possible.

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has done a terrific job this season, leading the team to a 9-3 record and producing a pair of potential top-five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. This has prompted a ton of speculation and rumors about his future.

Sanders is expected to draw significant interest from other NCAA teams, but there’s an NFL franchise that may pursue Coach Prime as well.

Las Vegas Raiders May Pursue Deion Sanders As Next Head Coach?

The Las Vegas Raiders are currently 2-10, which is tied for the worst record in the NFL. Head coach Antonio Pierce is on the hot seat, and the team desperately needs a quarterback. If the season ended today, the Raiders would have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

This has led to rampant speculation that Las Vegas might try to hire Sanders as their head coach and draft Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with their first-round pick.

Now, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is adding some fuel to that fire, describing the Raiders as a “potential fit” for Sanders and pointing out that minority owner Tom Brady may push the team to hire Coach Prime.

“The belief among many in the league is that Tom Brady, now a minority owner of the Raiders, will have some level of influence over major decisions, and team owner Mark Davis will covet his knowledge and insight,” Fowler wrote. “If Brady is looking for a fellow GOAT, Sanders has a compelling case as the best cornerback in NFL history.”

It’s also worth noting that Brady has a strong relationship with Shedeur.

When Shedeur was a four-star quarterback at Trinity Christian School, the two worked out together. In 2022, when Shedeur was at Jackson State, Brady signed him to an NIL deal with his BRADY Brand — the first athlete Brady ever signed to an NIL or endorsement deal. After Colorado’s upset win over TCU in 2023, Brady texted him, “Don’t be satisfied.” Shedeur is currently in Las Vegas, which turned some heads.

If the Raiders fire Pierce, Brady might throw his support behind Sanders. Even if the team doesn’t hire Sanders, Brady might advocate for them to draft Shedeur given how well knows him and his belief in him as a young quarterback.

Whether it’s the Raiders or other college teams, Sanders is going to have options this offseason.

“It’s going to be hard for Colorado to hang onto him,” a college coaching agent told ESPN. “Everyone has taken notice, and rightfully so, of what he’s doing.”

For what it’s worth, Sanders has shot down any talk that he’s looking for greener pastures.

“I’m happy where I am, man,” Sanders said last month. “I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? … That means I’m resting. I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do.”

But if he has a chance to coach his son in the NFL and has a powerful friend in the ownership group, perhaps that changes and he’ll be willing to listen to the Raiders’ pitch.
