The Colorado Buffaloes had multiple stars on their roster this season, with a few destined to be the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Deion Sanders Jr. seemed determined to get a Colorado star on this year’s NFL Combine list.
The NFL Scouting Combine is a week-long event that gives the top college football prospects the platform to show off their skills in front of all 32 NFL teams. It’s the players’ opportunity to have their draft stocks raised to get selected higher and potentially make more money in the process.
Let’s take a look at what caused Sanders Jr. to apply pressure on the NFL on social media.
Deion Sanders Jr. Getting LaJohntay Wester’s Name on NFL’s Radar
Colorado’s 2024 campaign fizzled out with their 36-14 loss to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl. Even though Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter took the limelight, many other youngsters were crucial in the run.
However, it’s LaJohntay Wester that Deion Sanders Jr. is pleading to get on the Combine invite list. In Pro Football Network’s most recent 2025 seven-round mock draft, Jacob Infante projected that Wester will get picked in the seventh round (No. 240 overall) by the Houston Texans.
While the Buffaloes WR hasn’t expressed his feelings on the matter, Sanders Jr. made a preemptive strike. Deion Sanders’ oldest son took it to X (formerly Twitter) to influence the NFL’s decision, saying, “Where’s @la_wester Combine Invite @NFL?”

After kicking off his football career at Palmetto High School and charting 35 receptions for 758 yards and eight touchdowns, Wester joined Florida Atlantic in 2020. He only started one game out of his nine appearances in his freshman year, recording 17 receptions for 114 yards and one TD.
In 2021, Wester played more often and finished the season with 65 receptions for 702 yards and four TDs in 12 appearances. He put up a similar show in 2022, fetching 62 receptions for 719 yards and eight TDs.
The 22-year-old broke the ceiling in 2023 for the Owls, notching 108 receptions for 1,168 yards, both career-high totals. He also bagged eight TDs while starting in all 12 games. He not only became the FAU’s all-time leading receiver but also made first-team All-American and first-team All-AAC. He was also named the AAC Special Teams Player of the Year.
Wester transferred to the Buffaloes in Jan. 2024. Even though his stats dropped a bit, he had his high moments throughout the season. Wester forced overtime with an incredible catch from Sanders against the Baylor Bears. The Buffaloes went on to defeat the Bears 38-31.
With an official list of invited players yet to be announced, Wester is highly likely to receive an invitation to the NFL Combine, but Deion Sanders Jr. is doing everything he can to make it happen.
