Coach Prime’s Son Deion Sanders Jr. Poses Tough Question for NFL About This Colorado Star’s Combine Invite

    Published on

Colorado is brimming with talent, some of which is leaving for the 2025 NFL Draft. Deion Sanders Jr. posed a question to the league about one player.

The Colorado Buffaloes’ 2024 team was not short on talent. While much of the limelight was on quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman winner Travis Hunter, the Buffs finished the season with a 9-4 record, which is a step up from their previous campaigns, thanks to help from the entire team. Now, it’s time for some to leave for the next level and the onslaught of preparations in the Boulder, Colo.-based school is at an all-time high.

Several athletes have received invitations to the four-day NFL Scouting Combine, where prospects can show their skills in front of NFL coaches, scouts, and team owners. Around 300 players are expected to be present, with Colorado WR Jimmy Horn Jr. being the latest Buff to get an invite.

Coach Prime’s Son Deion Sanders Jr. Has a Question for the NFL

With around a month left until the Combine many fans wonder why some players have not yet received invitations. Among those reflecting on it is Coach Prime’s son Deion Sanders Jr., who tweeted out a question to the NFL:

    “Where’s @la_wester Combine Invite @NFL?”

Sanders was referring to wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, who joined the Buffs in 2024 after transferring from Florida Atlantic University. Even in the competitive environment for playing, Wester recorded 931 yards, 74 receptions, and 10 touchdowns. His best outing came in Colorado’s regular-season finale against Oklahoma State, where he tallied 11 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

In Pro Football Network’s latest seven-round mock draft by Jacob Infante, Wester is projected to be selected in the seventh round at No. 240 by the Houston Texans, who led the AFC South with a 10-7 record.

Shedeur Sanders, who is projected in PFN’s latest mock to be the No. 3 overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft, is another member of the Sanders family who holds Wester in high regard. Sanders was asked about an NFL team that drafts him potentially recruiting another Buff ahead of Colorado’s Alamo Bowl game against BYU on Dec. 28, 2024.

He replied: “LaJohntay, for sure, he’s going to get open. He’s a threat all over the field. And it’s hard. I haven’t seen too many receivers get in and out the breaks how he do. And man-to-man coverage, it’s very tough to guard him.”
