Coach Prime Appreciates Atlanta Falcons’ Gesture

Sanders began his NFL career with the Falcons, spending the first five seasons of his pro football career in Atlanta. With the Falcons, he became a household name and an All-Pro by emerging as an all-time great returner and cornerback.

Some of his most iconic NFL plays came during his Falcons tenure while he wore the Nike Diamond Turf 1 shoes. Nike will be bringing these kicks back soon, and have lined up a series of promotions for it.

The Falcons are doing their share in promoting one of their greatest players of all time. The team posted a shoe giveaway to their lucky followers on Jan. 24th.

Sanders felt the love and posted a tweet acknowledging his former team’s gesture of recognizing one of his iconic sneakers. Coach Prime made a post, saying “I will forever Love the @AtlantaFalcons BECAUSE!”

Sanders is one of those NFL legends who seems to have a 100% approval rating among fans. The entire football fraternity has supported his transition from a two-way menace on the field to an ascending star in the coaching ranks.

The former Dallas Cowboys cornerback was reportedly considered for their head coaching role by owner Jerry Jones after Dallas decided not to renew Mike McCarthy’s contract. However, Dallas promoted offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach, so Sanders is content to continue building the Colorado Buffaloes’ program.

His two seasons in Boulder have seen the team rise from the basement of Pac-12 football to CFP playoff contention. His son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and Heisman Trophy-winning cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter emerged as college superstars under his tutelage and are now likely to be early first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Given his return to relevance and increasing popularity with a whole new generation, Nike decided to capitalize by releasing his signature sneaker to a fresh, young audience. The re-release of his classic Nike Diamond Turf 1 kicks is a nod from the sportswear giants to the Hall-of-Famer’s marketability even two decades after his retirement from the league.
