Deion Sanders had an emotional moment on the field during his team’s Alamo Bowl showdown against BYU. It was the last game when Coach Prime had his sons Shedeur and Shilo play in a Colorado jersey, as both of them would be leaving for the NFL in 2025. While speaking to reporters after the bowl game, Sanders mentioned what that moment meant for him and why he got emotional.

On Saturday, Dec. 28, the Buffaloes played their first postseason game in three years and Sanders’ last game with his sons. Putting both hands over their shoulders, Coach Prime led both sons to the field.
All the way from an HBCU to Boulder in 2023, Sanders’ sons played a huge role in lifting the brand value of the program on and off the field. Recollecting all the warm memories, Sanders mentioned his tough moment to the media reporters after the game.
“Man, like this, that’s tough. Man, I mean that’s, that’s tough to know that that’s it, and that walk won’t happen again. That’s tough. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and you recollect just the times in Youth League, and seeing them lay out uniforms in my closet, you know, getting ready for the next game. And they used to have 100 wristbands on his wrist trying to stunt, you know. I mean, it was all those things I recall,” Sanders explained.
Now, both his sons would be taking their talents to the NFL, with Shedeur projected to be among the top picks in the upcoming draft. In the 2024 season, he recorded 4,134 passing yards with a completion rate of 75.7% and scored 37 passing touchdowns while conceding only 10 interceptions.
Teams like the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are in contention for a franchise quarterback, and Shedeur could be a great fit. On the other hand, Shilo had a limited time due to injuries and still managed to record 45 solo tackles this season.
