Let's examine Deebo Samuel's injury, plus what it means for the 49ers and fantasy football managers going forward.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel enjoyed arguably his best performance of the regular season against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. Despite his impressive showing, Samuel battled through an apparent injury to remain on the field.

What happened to Samuel on Thursday, and what’s his current injury status ahead of San Francisco’s matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7?

    What Happened to Deebo Samuel?

Samuel appeared to suffer an arm injury against the Seahawks in Week 6. San Francisco’s star WR was in visible pain following a play and appeared to be favoring his left arm.

Following San Francisco’s victory over Seattle, Samuel told reporters that he was hit in his funny bone and couldn’t feel his arm. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed on Wednesday that the team learned it was a different injury the following day.

“We didn’t know during the game. Found out the next day,” Shanahan said.

According to Shanahan, Samuel is dealing with a wrist injury and was a limited participant to begin the week. But by Friday, Samuel was off the final injury report entirely, which jives with his tone earlier in the week.

    Fantasy Impact of Samuel’s Injury

The 49ers are dealing with multiple injuries at WR ahead of a Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs in Week 7. While Samuel was a limited throughout the week, Jauan Jennings did not participate all week with a hip injury and was declared out.

On the bright side, 49ers rookie WR Ricky Pearsall has been a full participant in practice and could be activated in time for the team’s matchup against the Chiefs. Pearsall is practicing in full for the first time since being shot in the chest during an attempted robbery on August 31. He was declared questionable on the final injury report

Samuel certainly appears to be in good spirits based on his dance moves at practice. With no injury status for Sunday, Samuel will be a must-start player in your fantasy football lineup.

Following the 2024 NFL Draft, it appeared as though San Francisco’s starting WR trio would feature Brandon Aiyuk, Samuel, and Pearsall. There is an increasing possibility that we could see that group together on the field for the first time against the Chiefs in Week 7.
