New York Jets WR Davante Adams has dominated the gridiron for years, notably being one of the best receivers in the NFL and one of the highest-paid. With that said, he has a life off the field, too. Who is Adams’ wife, Devanne Villarreal?
Who Is Davante Adams’ Wife, Devanne Villarreal?
Villarreal is a California native who attended Fresno State University, just as Adams did. Following graduation, she reportedly worked as an esthetician while living in California.
Once Adams was drafted by the Green Bay Packers, he told ESPN that he would fly to California as much as he could to visit her.
“I had to leave every single weekend of OTAs (organized team activities) to come back to California,” said Adams. “Literally every single weekend, I was flying back and forth, two flights each way on commercial flights. Four flights each week just to see my family.”
The family did, however, relocate to Las Vegas when Adams was traded to the Raiders back in 2022. Villarreal has talked about their relationship in the past, describing Adams as goofy and loving.
“He doesn’t act like a celebrity. He’s the same old Davante,” said Villarreal to Bleacher Report in 2018, adding that he loves to surprise her with her favorite candy, Sour Patch Kids.
In 2021, she told The Ringer that he has a “strong, intimidating presence,” but added that “when you get to know him, there’s a lot more to him.”
Villarreal frequently supports Adams at his games. She and her daughters were often spotted at Raiders games wearing their custom-designed jerseys (with Adams’ number).
Adams and Villarreal’s Relationship Timeline
The two first met at Fresno State in 2012. While Adams played football for the Bulldogs from 2011 to 2013, Villarreal and he became college sweethearts.
After being together for years, Adams and Villarreal got married in 2018. According to a series of Instagram photos, Adams proposed in 2017 during a trip to the Bahamas. Their wedding came at Pebble Beach in Monterey County, California, and they traveled to the Greek island of Santorini for their honeymoon, according to USA Today.
Since getting married, Adams and Villarreal have had two children. Their first daughter, Daija Leigh, was born in September 2019 and their second, Dezi Lynn, arrived in April 2022. Villarreal described Adams to ESPN as the “best girl dad.”
The couple also have a dog, a pitbull named Louis.
The couple celebrated five years together in June 2023, with Adams posting on Instagram: “5 down… Happy anniversary to my beautiful wife.”
