Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders stunned the football world with a 45-31 victory over the Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round, and one big-name NFL receiver was not shocked by the outcome.
Davante Adams has been a fan of Daniels since before he was drafted No. 2 overall, and Adams praised the rookie quarterback on “Up & Adams.”
Davante Adams Describes Jayden Daniels as Veteran, ‘Best Talent in the Draft’
Adams has been on the Daniels bandwagon for a while, and the rookie’s play made him think of his ex-teammate and current Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love. They weren’t on the field together often in the two years they crossed over in Green Bay, but Adams can see a lot of Love in Daniels.
Wanna know how SPECIAL Jayden Daniels is???

“He reminds me a lot of just the temperament, the calmness, the smoothness out there. He’s a lot like J Love as far as demeanor goes,” Adams said.
Packers fans may not appreciate their team being brought up by their former star receiver or agree with the comparison, but he continued to heap praise on Daniels.
“You never see him get worked up. … You can just feel, it’s like a different type of veteran feel back there.” Daniels has been more than impressive in his rookie campaign starting all 17 regular season games while throwing for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns. He added 891 yards rushing and six touchdowns on the ground and seems like a lock for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The playoffs have been more of the same with Daniels throwing for 567 yards and four touchdowns and adding 87 yards on the ground through his first two postseason starts.
In the regular season, Daniels recorded a QB+ score of 85.3 (B), ninth-best in the NFL, according to PFN’s QB+ metric. When including his Wild Card and Divisional Round performances, his grade actually increases to 86.8, showing his wise-beyond-his-years composure as a rookie in high-pressure situations.
Would Adams Ever Team Up With Daniels in Washington?
The current Jets receiver also mentioned the second NFL team he played for, the Las Vegas Raiders, and saw Daniels as a good fit for the silver and black.
“That’s exactly why I wanted him in Vegas,” Adams said. “I don’t know if I ever would have had to leave Vegas if we would have been able to make that happen.”
A Daniels-to-Adams combination would have probably gotten Las Vegas to the playoffs in 2024 rather than drafting sixth overall, according to the current NFL Draft order. When asked about a possible team-up with the Commanders, Adams thought about it but didn’t want to give up his jersey number.
Sorry #Commanders fans, I don't think Davante Adams is ever coming to Washington 😅😭🔊

It’s not a “no”, but his respect for fellow receiver Terry McLaurin makes this question a non-starter. … for now.
