3-Time All-Pro WR Davante Adams Hints at Potential Return to the Packers Amid Rumors of Jets Breakup

    Published on

Davante Adams may be looking for a new home soon, and on a recent media appearance, it seems he is open to coming back to Green Bay.

It looks like New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams will be on the move again. There are new reports that Adams will not be back with the Jets and may be returning to a familiar place.

Adams may be taking his ball and going home to Green Bay where his career began.

Davante Adams to the Green Bay Packers?

Adams made an appearance on Kay Adams’ “Up & Adams” show, and when asked if he could return to Green Bay, he said, “It’s looking right now like they [Packers] might need some receiver help in one way or the other. … Maybe a veteran or something we’ll see.”

The former Packers WR left Green Bay before the 2022 season to follow his friend and former Fresno State Bulldogs teammate Derek Carr out to Las Vegas to play for the Raiders, which turned into a disaster for both parties involved.

Carr ended up leaving the Raiders for the New Orleans Saints, leaving Adams behind, who wanted out of Las Vegas last year. Without a good quarterback under center, Adams’ numbers tumbled.

Despite the Jets’ struggles on offense, he still managed another 1,000-yard season and eight touchdowns.

However, it appears that the Jets may be done with him and quarterback Aaron Rodgers after this season.

Are Adams and Aaron Rodgers Moving On?

Adams also talked in this interview about the possibility of him and Rodgers moving on but said there hasn’t been a decision from either on what’s next.

“I don’t know if there is any convincing Aaron of anything,” Adams said. “It’s going to be hard enough convincing me of anything. I think both of us are just trying to figure out where our heads are at and figure out what’s the best move. There’s not as much time as we’d like left, so it’s all very calculated decisions at this point. So we’ve got to take our time and see what makes the most sense.”

Another consideration for Adams and Rodgers is where former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy ends up. McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys have decided to mutually part ways, leaving the door open for a possible reunion between the trio.

Adams still has a huge amount of respect for his former coach.

“Mike’s a great coach,” Adams said. “It’s tough when you have a lot of success, you win a lot of games. They are always ready to put everybody on the chopping block basically. You have to win a championship, or at least be up for a championship every three years, and if you don’t, they talk about getting rid of you.”

We will know sooner than later what Adams’ plans will be.
