Davante Adams Feeds Into Rumors Signalling End of Aaron Rodgers’ Jets Era

    Published on

Davante Adams hopes the Jets' last four games of the season are not the last that he plays with Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Jets’ grand experiment with Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers is falling apart faster than fans can process. Adams was brought in via a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to rekindle his Green Bay Packers magic with Rodgers, but the duo’s reunion has been a nightmare.

The Jets are 3-10, their playoff drought is set to stretch to 14 years, and Adams’ performance has dipped to his early Packers days, with just 662 yards and four touchdowns through 14 weeks and 10 games played.

Is the Davante Adams-Aaron Rodgers Bromance Coming to an End?

Adams has not been the savior New York hoped for. Appearing on the “Up & Adams” show, he acknowledged the struggles of his partnership with Rodgers; when host Kay Adams talked about the duo needing 14 touchdowns to break the all-time QB-WR record, the Jets WR responded bluntly.

“Yeah, we need to average about three or four a game. … I don’t know; I know that that’s a question asking about the future. I’m really not too sure of how things are going to transpire after this year, so we definitely gotta make the most of these last four games.”

Rumors are swirling about the future of both Davante Adams and Rodgers in New York. Rumors have surfaced that Rodgers may want out of New York, while Adams could face an offseason release unless he restructures his hefty contract.

The former Raiders man discussed these rumors suggesting the duo’s partnership is coming to an end, saying, “It’ll be a sad thing for sure [if this ends], but hopefully that’s not the case. We’ve got to make the most of these [games].”

While he sounded optimistic, Adams admitted that the season has been lost: “It takes a new year, a new chance, to kind of turn things around,” he stated.

Enjoying huge success in the past, including 79 career touchdowns, the fourth-most between a QB and WR duo in NFL history, the Jets’ version of this iconic pairing has been a shadow of its former self. Rodgers, a three-time MVP during their Green Bay days, hasn’t managed to elevate the Jets, and Adams has failed to shine in a broken system.

Adams insists leaving Las Vegas was the right choice, but his stats and the Jets’ record suggest otherwise. If Rodgers departs, Adams may stay to help rebuild the team’s offense.

Ever the professional, the 31-year-old WR highlighted the challenges last week, saying, “Like two different seasons for me, but I don’t regret it at all. You win some, you lose some, as long as you’re doing everything you got to do.”

The Jets’ front office faces tough decisions and the fans wonder what might have been if this reunion had clicked. For now, the only certainty is uncertainty as Adams and Rodgers look forward to what could be their final games together. Whether they part ways or attempt another season in green and white, the end of 2024 leaves a bitter taste for both stars and their fans.
