Monday Night Football has been in good hands for decades as legendary broadcasting crews have come and gone throughout the years. With Joe Buck and Troy Aikman settling into their role in the prime-time slot, they’ve done an awesome job captivating audiences and setting the scene beautifully.
While they’re clearly an awesome duo, they won’t be the only team of broadcasters calling the action tonight. In addition to Aikman and Buck, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, Chris Fowler, and Louis Riddick will be on the call tonight as well.
Let’s take a closer look at why that is as we get ready for Monday night NFL action.
Monday Night Football Doubleheader
Nothing is changing for Buck and Aikman as they will be manning their customary posts on Monday Night Football tonight. However, they won’t be calling all of the action because there’s a second game going on simultaneously that will require the work of others.
While Buck and Aikman will be in New Jersey as the New York Giants host the Green Bay Packers, the broadcast team of Orlovsky, Fowler, and Riddick will be calling the action for the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins game that will be played at the same time.
It’s the third and final MNF doubleheader of the 2023 season with the previous two instances coming in Weeks 2 and 3.
As the season grows old and the calendar year rolls into the holiday season, the NFL offers different scheduling quirks during that time every season. In addition to doubleheaders on Monday, the NFL will also be playing three games next Saturday, being aired on NFL Network.
Monday Night Football Preview
The 4-8 Titans travel to Miami to take on the dynamic 9-3 Dolphins in a matchup that has a chance to be explosive offensively. Head coach Mike McDaniel has Miami firing on all cylinders, and with the help of Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins look like one of the best offenses in the entire NFL.
The second game features a Green Bay Packers riding high off a three-game winning streak, heading into New Jersey to take on an underachieving New York Giants team. Green Bay comes into the night 6-6, looking to win their fourth in a row as they continue their fight for an NFC playoff spot.
