Back to the Future? Dan Marino Says They Should Make the Dolphins Throwbacks Permanent

    Published on

On Radio Row, Hall of Famer Dan Marino stated he would thrive in today’s game and gave his opinion on the Miami Dolphins' uniforms.

One of the best parts of the Super Bowl experience is all of the access to current and past players we get. As countless outlets line Radio Row in Las Vegas this week, players and legends alike get a chance to let loose and have fun with the media.

Such is the case with Miami Dolphins great Dan Marino. The Pro Football Hall of Famer made his rounds to various shows this week discussing anything from how well he could play in today’s NFL to the uniforms his former team should wear on Sundays.

Dan Marino Wants Dolphins To Bring Back Throwbacks

This seems to be a topic that many Dolphins fans will agree with him on. While visiting with Mike Florio and Chris Simms on an episode of Pro Football Talk, Marino stated that he would like to see the Dolphins bring back their throwback uniforms full-time.

When asked by Florio what he thinks it will take to get owner Stephen Ross to bring back the jerseys, Marino started by saying “I don’t think he will, because that was kind of his baby..”

Before stating, “I’d like to see them come back, too. They look great, especially when we have those games where we’re wearing the throwbacks.

“At the same time, he owns the team, and yeah, I don’t think he wants to hear that question anymore, so it’s better to leave it alone.”

Marino agrees with the Dolphins faithful in the desire to bring them back but also understands that it may not happen.

Marino Jokes He Can Throw for 6,000 Yards in Today’s NFL

It wasn’t just uniform talk for Marino this week.

He also spoke about the state of the NFL and how he thinks he would perform in its current state.

“Yeah, you do think about it. You know the rules have changed and all that; the one thing I would say our offense was a little bit ahead of its time. I don’t have to prove it so yes I could throw for 6,000 yards.”

Marino is known for being able to throw the ball all over the field, especially at a time when the passing game wasn’t even close to what it is now.

In today’s pass-happy, pro-offense league, Marino jokingly suggests he could eclipse the 6,000-yard mark. While it’s all in good fun, there may be a bit of truth in those words since Marino is one of the best pure passers the league has ever seen.

In an NFL that has never been more tailored to his style of play, who knows just how good Marino could have been.
