Russell Wilson Gets Attacked By Damien Woody As QB Sets Sights on Unbelievably High Goals

After a controversial end to last season, Russell Wilson has received plenty of criticism. Damien Woody is the latest analyst to question Wilson's comments.

After a controversial end to last season, Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has received plenty of criticism. Although Wilson’s days in Denver are likely coming to an end this offseason, he still has Super Bowl-winning aspirations.

Wilson’s eye-opening comments went viral after his appearance in an interview with former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall on the “I Am Athlete” podcast.

“I’ve got more fire now than ever, and for me, it’s all about winning. I just want to win,” Wilson said after being asked by Marshall about his passion for the game.

Yet, that wasn’t the quote that caught everyone’s attention. Wilson continued by laying out his five-year plan. “Over the next five years, I want to win two,” Wilson said.

Damien Woody Reacts to Russell Wilson’s Lofty Expectations

Former NFL offensive lineman and current ESPN analyst Damien Woody offered his take on Wilson’s comments during Monday’s episode of Get Up. “Can he crawl before he walks?” opened Woody as he began to rip Wilson.

“In the past three seasons, two organizations have basically given up on Russell Wilson. The [Seattle] Seahawks and the Denver Broncos,” Woody continued.

Woody didn’t hold back as he continued to question Wilson’s comments. “So before we talk about Super Bowls, let’s just try to find some stability in your game first.”

It’s clear Woody and many others are confused by Wilson’s Super Bowl statement given his recent struggles in two different cities over the last three seasons.

    What Went Wrong for Wilson?

Life comes at you fast in the NFL, and Wilson is the latest example of exactly that. Wilson was viewed as one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks just two years ago.

Which is exactly why the Broncos traded a king’s ransom to the Seahawks for him in 2022. Denver believed Wilson was the missing piece in their Super Bowl puzzle.

Yet, now, they’ll likely move on from him this offseason following a disappointing 11-19 record in Wilson’s 30 starts with the Broncos. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong with him and how we’ve reached this point in his NFL career.

Wilson completed 66.8% of his passes last season for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. While he clearly still has talent on the field, Wilson has fallen out of favor off the field in both Seattle and Denver.

While we wait and see where Wilson will play next, one thing is for certain. Wilson believes he’s still a championship-winning-caliber quarterback and plans on winning two Super Bowls in the next five years.
