Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce’s fantasy football outlook in 2024 is largely impacted by the addition of fellow running back Joe Mixon. But by exactly how much?
Below, I’ll examine Pierce’s fantasy outlook in 2024 and determine if he’s worth a draft pick.
Dameon Pierce’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
The ZeroRB fantasy football strategy is commonly used, especially in an environment where it’s becoming harder and harder to find running back value or a competent RB2.
According to TruMedia, Pierce had 145 carries for 416 yards and two touchdowns. He was hardly used following the emergence of Devin Singletary. Pierce averaged just 2.9 yards per carry, and of his 145 carries, only seven came on third down or later.
Now, the Texans have brought in Mixon, who’s coming off a season with 257 carries, 1,034 yards, and nine touchdowns. He also caught 52 passes on 64 targets for 376 yards and three touchdowns. He finished as the RB7 in 2023. Singletary was the RB32 in this offense last season, and Pierce was the RB54.
The Texans have a Week 14 bye week.
Is Pierce a Good Fantasy Pick?
Going as the RB66 and No. 243 overall, Pierce will almost certainly be a waiver wire option.
There’s really no value here at all. Mixon will get plenty of action in this offense. He played the entire 2023 season, and Pierce will only ever see any value if Mixon misses time.

Even then, Pierce averaged 2.9 yards per carry in 2023, so I’m not sure how effective he’d be even if given starting reps. In the first week of the preseason, he had four carries for 4 yards.
This is a fairly quick analysis, but Pierce is a pass for me.
