Who Is Dallas Turner? Height, Weight, Age, and More

Much of the spotlight has been on the offensive talent in the 2024 NFL Draft, but one of this year’s highest-ranked defensive players is EDGE Dallas Turner. Here is everything you know about the former three-year player at Alabama.

    How Tall Is Dallas Turner?

Turner’s recorded height at the NFL Combine was 6’4″. Some notable edge rushers in the NFL that are the same height as Turner include T.J. Watt, Trey Hendrickson, and George Karlaftis. So while 6’4″ isn’t the ideal height for the position, it isn’t a huge obstacle for success at the position by any means.

    How Much Does Turner Weigh?

Turner weighed in at 247 pounds at the NFL Combine, a relatively low number for the EDGE position. For reference, projected first-round picks Jared Verse, Laiatu Latu, and Chop Robinson each weighed in at over 250 pounds at the NFL Combine.

According to MockDraftable, Turner’s weight is just in the ninth percentile for edge rushers in the history of the NFL Combine.

    How Old Is Turner?

Born on Feb. 2, 2003, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Turner is one of the younger prospects in this class, something that will have scouts very intrigued. He turned 21 only two months ago and won’t turn 22 until about the Super Bowl in 2025.

What School Did Turner Go To?

Turner was a five-star prospect who played his college football at Alabama.

He was widely regarded as one of the best prospects in the class of 2021 coming out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He was a five-star prospect and ranked in the top 15 by almost every recruiting outlet. ESPN had him ranked as the 13th-best recruit in 2021, a year in which Alabama landed Turner and two other players in the top 15.

His offer list was extremely impressive, as it included Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, and Clemson before he ultimately decided on Alabama.

    Revisiting Turner’s College Career

For anybody going to Alabama, the expectation is that you will have to wait your turn as there are so many other talented players on the roster.

However, Turner was a guy who played a lot as a freshman, finishing with 8.5 sacks. He wasn’t quite as good as a sophomore (four sacks) but bounced back last year with 10.

During his time as a member of the Crimson Tide, he finished with 120 tackles and 22.5 sacks in three years in Alabama.

    Turner’s Potential in the NFL

There will be a lot of teams who look at Turner and envision him as a 12-13-sack guy for many years. He is a rare combination of size, speed, and power you don’t see from the position often.

At 247 pounds, there are some concerns about how he will hold up in the run game, but he has a motor that is second to none. This is a guy who could end up an All-Pro-type of player on the defensive side of the ball.

Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings is very high on Turner.

“Turner grades out as a borderline top-10 and blue-chip prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he’s the top EDGE prospect on my board,” Cummings said. “A young, productive player with an all-encompassing physical profile and a steep upward track, there isn’t much preventing Turner from being an early first-round pick.

“Turner came into the 2023 spring period in the 240-pound range, but he played the 2023 campaign at a listed 252 pounds, and his play strength looked visibly improved. Not only that, but Turner retained his freakish explosiveness, speed, and bend. And in little moments, we got to see what his ceiling could look like.

“Even with hand-usage improvements, Turner can still strive for more consistency, both with his pass-rushing plan and overall hand precision. But Turner has one of the most complete physical pallets of any EDGE over the past five years, and it yields astronomical upside.”
