The Philadelphia Eagles appear to have avoided a serious injury to Jalen Hurts, who returned in the third quarter after limping before halftime. But tight end Dallas Goedert got banned up in the second half of the Eagles’ Week 9 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
What happened to Goedert, and what’s his injury status? Here’s the latest on a key piece of Phildelphila’s offense.
Dallas Goedert Injury Update
Goedert hauled in a 28-yard pass from Hurts near the end of the third quarter, bringing the Eagles offense down to the Cowboys’ 13-yard line. But he stayed down on the field after the play and was clearly dealing with an injury.
Goedert appeared to be favoring his right arm. He was initially assessed by Philadelphia’s training staff but then left the field and went directly to the club’s locker room.

Goedert may have gotten his arm trapped under a Dallas defender’s arm on the play. As Mike Garafolo of NFL Network noted, Goedert was favoring his right arm after leaving the Eagles’ X-ray room.
Philadelphia initially announced Goedert as questionable to return with a forearm issue. But the Eagles officially downgraded him to out with roughly eight minutes remaining in the game.

Goedert posted a relatively slow start to the season before his Week 5 coming-out party against the Los Angeles Rams, when he put up eight receptions for 117 yards and his first TD of the season. He averaged a 5-51 line and scored another touchdown from Weeks 6-8.
After the game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Goedert has a forearm fracture. He was expected to undergo surgery on Monday and will likely be sidelined for four to five weeks, per NFL Network.
Fantasy Fallout From Goedert’s Injury
Goedert caught three of his four targets for 50 yards prior to sustaining an injury. If he misses any time in the near future, Jack Stoll and Albert Okwuegbunam will see more reps at tight end.
A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith will continue to see the bulk of the work in the passing game, with Julio Jones and Olamide Zaccheaus potentially seeing an expanded role, as well.
