Dallas Cowboys’ Newest Practice Squad Signings
TE Eric Saubert
Saubert played in the Drake football program throughout his college career and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2017 NFL Draft in the fifth round. Since then, he has been with six other teams, with the most recent being the Miami Dolphins.
Saubert has played in 17 career games, the last time being in 2022 with Denver. The tight end has 33 receptions for 280 yards, averaging 8.5 yards per catch and two touchdowns.
This is an interesting move, as the team announced last week that they would move Peyton Hendershot to injured reserve with an ankle injury, and Sean McKeon would be elevated from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
LB Buddy Johnson
Johnson played football at Texas A&M and was a fourth-round draft selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has little playing time throughout his career, having played four games in 2021 in Pittsburgh and only having two combined total tackles.

However, with time, Johnson could be a great player for Dan Quinn to create an impact as an inside linebacker. In college, Johnson showed his ability to find the runner, which could be a nice addition if the team ever needs to elevate him from the practice squad.
Remember that Dallas currently has Leighton Vander Esch on IR with no timeline for a possible return yet. Vander Esch is dealing with a neck injury he sustained during Week 5 against the 49ers.
G Chris Glaser
Adding even more depth to the Cowboys’ offensive line remains a focus. Glaser was an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2022 and was picked up by the Chiefs. After being released, he joined the Jets and remained on the practice squad since last season. He has not started an NFL game yet.
G Adam Pankey
Another guard the team added was also an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of West Virginia. Pankey has spent time with the Packers and Dolphins during his NFL career. Throughout this time, he has played nine games and has one start.
Pankey can add a sense of veteran presence to the room if depth is needed at any point.
