What highlights and key transactions happened on Wednesday as the Dallas Cowboys prepare for Saturday's game against the Detroit Lions?

The Dallas Cowboys are on a short week and continue preparing for their final home game of the regular season against the Detroit Lions.

The Cowboys are out of padded practices for the regular season, as they had their final one last week.

This was done intentionally, as the team had a short week this week, with the game being on Saturday.

The team practiced outside, but the quarterbacks stayed inside since wind was an issue during practice.

    Cowboys Transactions

The Cowboys announced on Wednesday that they were waiving LB Rashaan Evans and activating OT Matt Waletzko from injury reserve.

This was partly done because of the depth needed at the tackle position, with Tyron Smith dealing with a back injury and Chuma Edoga popping up on Wednesday’s injury report.

Mike McCarthy said these conversations had been going on for weeks, and they felt Waletzko was ready to go, especially with the time he had spent in the weight room and his training.

    Full participants:

    • DE Junior Fehoko (Knee)
    • T Matt Waletzko (Shoulder)
    • RB Hunter Luepke (Thigh)
    • S Malik Hooker (Ankle)

    Limited participants:

    • OT Chuma Edoga (Toe)

    Did not participate:

    Chuma Edoga and Rico Dowdle

Edoga was added to the practice report on Wednesday with a toe injury. It would be worrisome if Smith isn’t available for Saturday and Edoga is also injured.

However, with Waletzko being elevated, the team has more depth in the position than before. But filling in Smith’s shoes is no easy task, no matter who it is.

As for Dowdle, the running back has been dealing with an ankle injury for the last few weeks. This injury has kept him limited at practice since it occurred, but he hasn’t missed a game.
