Dallas Cowboys News, May 6: Teammate Wants Lamb To Get Paid, Free Agents Dallas Could Still Sign, and More

Here's the latest news on the Dallas Cowboys, including a teammate calling for CeeDee Lamb to get paid and free agents they could still sign.

While much of the NFL offseason is now in the rearview mirror, the Dallas Cowboys still have a lot of work to do ahead, particularly in extending core players up for new contracts.

Dallas also still has needs to fill across the roster. Even in May, there are veteran players available to bring in to address those holes. We address all of that and more in today’s Cowboys news.

Brandin Cooks Says It’s Time To Pay CeeDee Lamb Top-Dollar

Cowboys WR1 CeeDee Lamb had a breakout season in 2023 and is now considered to be one of the elite receivers in the NFL. Lamb knows it, and so do the Cowboys and his teammates.

Lamb is reportedly staying away from voluntary workouts right now, and while it’s no big deal on the surface, some feel like it’s a bit of a silent protest as the young star waits for a new contract.

Dallas is known for dragging out their contract situations as they look to win the deal, but with a player of Lamb’s magnitude, people such as Brandin Cooks feel like he should be getting top-of-the-market money.

Everyone fully expects Lamb to be paid as he should, but when given a chance to give his opinion on the matter, Cooks did not mince words in his support of his teammate.

Free Agents Who Still Make Sense for the Cowboys

The Cowboys aren’t typically big players in free agency. However, once the NFL Draft compensation pick formula is no longer affected by outside signings, Dallas tends to be more active in signing veterans.

That time is now, and with it comes a more concerted look at who is still out there and who may be able to help the team upgrade their roster.

Bleacher Report takes a look at some available free agents that could make sense for the Cowboys now that we are in the post-draft phase of free agency. Names such as former Dolphins CB Xavien Howard and former Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling were mentioned as possible fits.

With cornerback depth and WR3 still a concern for Dallas, both names could find a much-needed role with the Cowboys.
