Free agency has slowed down, but there’s never a shortage of news for the Dallas Cowboys. From the NFL‘s annual league meeting to some interesting off-the-field activities, the Cowboys are doing it all.

Jerry Jones made an appearance at the NFL’s annual league meeting, and when speaking to the media, he didn’t hold back. Mike McCarthy’s non-appearance was also noteworthy. There are also some thoughts from an ESPN analyst on the Cowboys’ free agency. All that and more in today’s news.
Jerry Jones Speaks on Tyron Smith and Dak Prescott
The NFL’s annual league meeting is being held from March 24-27, in Orlando, Florida. The event will feature a busy slate that will include owners voting on rule changes and proposals submitted by clubs. However, there’s also media in the building.
“I think there are a handful or more of quarterbacks playing who haven’t won a Super Bowl that will win a Super Bowl,” said Jones. “I think Dak [Prescott] is one of them. I’m firm there. He’s one of the ones who can.”
Jones also shared that the reason for Tyron Smith leaving and ultimately signing with the New York Jets was money. He said that Tyler Smith is the working option at left tackle heading into the 2024 NFL Draft.
“I’d say that’s a good, viable thing … Keep the idea there. Don’t dismiss that idea,” said Jones. “Certainly, he’s potentially, I want to say a great player at left tackle.”
ESPN Analysts Slams Cowboys for Free Agency Approach
ESPN’s assessment of free agency was based on the straightforward premise of determining which teams were winners, losers, and surprises. Which team, in the legacy network’s view, took a step back?
“Cowboys,” said Mike Tannenbaum, ESPN’s NFL front office insider. “They still have needs at left tackle, center, running back, defensive tackle, and receiver.
“They deserve credit for outstanding drafting and patience in the past, but they’re going to need an almost perfect draft to fill all of their needs,” said Tannenbaum.
It wasn’t just Tannenbaum, either. Jordan Reid, one of ESPN’s draft analysts, said the Cowboys were the most disappointing. “They have lost key players and have failed to replace them so far,” said Reid.

Wide Receivers Coach Surprises in Track and Field Competition
While there’s plenty happening on the football front, Cowboys wide receivers coach Robert Prince took a break to perform on the track. According to his Instagram, he hadn’t raced since 1988. Despite that, he competed in the 2024 USATF Masters Indoor Championships at 58 years old.
How’d he do? Pretty well. Prince placed first in the 60-meter hurdles and second in the Pentathlon.
Prince has been coaching football since 1989 and has been with the Cowboys since 2022.
