Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey has been on an upward trajectory since joining the team over the summer. Aubrey is the first kicker in the Cowboys’ franchise to start his career 16 for 16 or better in field-goal attempts. This makes him the sixth kicker in NFL history to do so.
The 28-year-old only needs two made field goals to tie for the most field goals without a miss in NFL history to start a career. The last kicker to do so was Travis Coons in 2015.
When Aubrey was asked about chasing this record, he said it’s not something he thinks about because he’s “never been a big history guy.”
His unfazed mentality is something that coaches have praised since training camp and continues to carry him through the season. The way Aubrey sees it — just make the field-goal opportunity in front of him whenever there is one.
However, he gives credit to his teammates and the same coaches who he says have helped him along the way.
“I’ve got good pieces around me. I’ve got veteran leadership keeping me in line and showing me what to expect. I’ve got a great coaching staff that puts me in good situations, and everyone is putting me in a good place to succeed,” said Aubrey.
Dak Prescott’s Connection to ‘Butter Aubrey’
One of those teammates who believes in Aubrey’s ability is Dak Prescott. In fact, Prescott has a new nickname for Aubrey, calling him “Butter Aubrey” and saying, “He’s butter. Butter Aubrey. Smooth. Always has been since the day that he showed up.”

The kicker says he’s happy Prescott believes in him, but the two had a tie before Aubrey came to Dallas.
That tie is none other than his kicking coach, Brian Egan, who was Prescott’s college roommate at Mississippi State.
Aubrey’s Kicking Range
Aubrey is second in the NFL for the most points scored by a kicker, with 63 points. His longest field goal so far this season was a 55-yard field goal he made in Week 2 against the Jets.
According to him, his longest kick at practice was a 68-yarderl in the Ford Center at The Star.
Although the Cowboys have found a long-term solution for a stable kicker in Aubrey, all eyes will be on the offense’s ability to score throughout the rest of the season.
