The injury report has become lengthy as the Dallas Cowboys head into their third and final preseason game on Saturday.
Although the Cowboys won’t have any starters on the field this weekend, the younger players have had their fair share of injuries as well.
Dallas Cowboys Injuries Heading Into Final Preseason Game
WR David Durden
According to Michael Ghelken with the Dallas Morning News, his sources say rookie David Durden underwent an MRI on Thursday and has been diagnosed with a torn ACL.
This means Durden will be out for the season along with rookies DeMarvion Overshown and John Stephens Jr., who suffered the same injury on Saturday against the Seattle Seahawks.
OT Matt Waletzko
Matt Waletzko suffered a right shoulder subluxation during the team’s second preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
On Wednesday, head coach Mike McCarthy said that Waletzko had a chance to play on Saturday against the Raiders for the final preseason game of 2023.
Waletzko did participate in practice this week during individual and team drills.
RB Ronald Jones
Two weeks ago, Ronald Jones suffered a groin injury when the team was back in Oxnard for training camp. Jones returned to practice for the first time on Tuesday and participated in individual drills.
On Monday, McCarthy said he would “be challenged to be ready this week” for the game against the Raiders. But seeing Jones at practice could mean his chances are better to get some playing time, although there is yet to be an official word from the team if that is in their plans.
LB Malik Jefferson
Malik Jefferson suffered a foot sprain in the team’s first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Monday, McCarthy said that Jefferson would be “hard-pressed to make it back” for Saturday’s game.
S Donovan Wilson
Donovan Wilson has not returned to practice since suffering a calf strain the first week the team was in Oxnard for camp.
Even had Wilson been healthy, it’s likely he wouldn’t have played during the preseason since no starters are playing. But there has yet to be a word if Wilson will return for the team’s regular-season opener against the New York Giants.
CB Nahshon Wright
Nahshon Wright suffered a high ankle sprain in the team’s first preseason game against the Jaguars. He has not participated in practice since, and there is no timeline for his return.
S Sheldrick Redwine
Sheldrick Redwine suffered a hamstring during the team’s preseason matchup with the Seahawks. He did not participate in practice this week, and there is no timeline for his return.
