The Dallas Cowboys are in the final steps to preparing for their Week 8 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, their first game back from their bye week.
Dallas Cowboys Injury Report
Friday’s official practice report is as follows:
- Tyron Smith was limited at practice on Friday and was listed as questionable for his game status on Sunday.
- Juanyeh Thomas was a full participant in Friday’s practice.
Tyron Smith
Smith popped up on Thursday’s practice report with a reported neck stinger.
Mike McCarthy said the tackle “made a lot of progress from yesterday to today” regarding the workload he could take. The coach mentioned that the injury was an old injury that was re-aggravated from a former injury.
On Friday, Jerry Jones also mentioned his optimism for Smith’s availability, adding the tackle would need to wear a support brace for the rest of the week in practice to prevent his neck from turning in specific ways.
Smith has an injury history that has prevented him from playing an entire season since 2015. However, Smith had noted neck injuries in the 2018 and 2020 seasons.
He has been on the injury report multiple times this season. The first time was in Week 1 with an ankle injury and Week 3 with a knee injury.
So what happens if Smith isn’t able to play on Sunday?

If Smith is not available, Chuma Edoga could step back into the line as he did four other times this season.
But this does create an issue with the build-up of continuity that the offensive line started making three weeks ago when the starting lineup was able to play together.
The offensive line needs to be at its best going forward so the Cowboys’ offense can open up, score, and keep the defense fresh.
Juanyeh Thomas
Thomas is coming off a hamstring injury that kept him inactive for Week 6. However, he had a steady week at practice, indicating that the second-year safety will likely be available on Sunday.
