Dallas Cowboys Injury Report: Which 2 Players Did Not Participate on Wednesday?

We have the latest from Wednesday's practice from The Star. Which Dallas Cowboys players worked with the rehab group, and which ones returned to practice?

FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys continue preparing for Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets.

Update: The Cowboys practice report revealed that Zack Martin was limited with a groin injury on Thursday. He was the only player added to the report from last week. Meanwhile, Tyron Smith had another day of fully participating in practice.

A small portion of the practice was open to media at the beginning. Here are some of the injury observations and updates.

It was a nice day for the Cowboys to practice in mid-70-degree temperatures and overcast. The team stretched and worked on position drills when the media was allowed to watch.

Defensive backs Donovan Wilson and Jourdan Lewis were spotted working back into practice. But WR Brandin Cooks and OL Tyler Smith were in street clothes working with Britt Brown on the side.

Head coach Mike McCarthy said that Wilson, Cooks, and Smith have all improved.

    Brandin Cooks

Reports state that Cooks is dealing with an MCL sprain that is not described as a multi-week injury.

Although his status for Sunday is still in question, Cooks spoke to the media on Wednesday, saying that he would be a full go if he could play.

During a press conference ahead of practice, McCarthy said Cooks was about the same and would get the same workload as before.

It’s worth noting that McCarthy mentioned if he’s not able to play on Sunday, you could see more of KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Tolbert, or even Jalen Brooks, who would need to be elevated from the practice squad.

    Tyler Smith

This is the second week in which Smith is dealing with a hamstring injury.

McCarthy said that he would work with the rehab group today, and during practice, Smith was not dressed out. He didn’t participate in position group drills but was working with Brown and Cooks on the sidelines.

Chuma Edoga would be the next man up again if Smith is unavailable for Sunday’s game. McCarthy feels good about this after seeing his productivity against the Giants and getting a full week of practice.

The head coach credited Edoga for switching from tackle to guard as well as being prepared to play with short notice to play last Sunday.

    Donovan Wilson

Donovan Wilson seems to be on the uphill from his calf injury in training camp. McCarthy said he got more practice on Wednesday and would be integrated even more today.

Wilson was seen stretching with the rest of the team, briefly working with Brown, and working in position group drills.

    Jourdan Lewis

Jourdan Lewis was a full go from what the media saw at practice today.

McCarthy spoke about Lewis, saying he’s “very close to playing” and “progressing more” than last week. The head coach noted that they want to be smart about bringing him back into the game.
