‘There’s No Moral Victories in This’ – Dak Prescott Gets Candid About Cowboys’ Loss to the Eagles

Dak Prescott discusses the game-changing plays that contributed to the Cowboys' 28-23 loss to the Eagles and where his mindset is going forward.

Despite Dak Prescott playing lights out on Sunday, the Cowboys return to Dallas now 5-3 after losing to the Eagles in the final seconds of the game.

Prescott had 374 passing yards and no interceptions on 29 completions (65.9% completion rate).

Cowboys’ Loss to Eagles Was a Game of Inches

Multiple plays determined the Cowboys’ fate against the Eagles.

The most notable were the reversed calls on Prescott’s touchdown pass to Luke Schoonmaker, who was just short of the goal line, and his two-point conversion, where the quarterback’s foot went out of bounds in the series.

“An inch or two on one of those big plays, and we would be talking about a different outcome,” said the quarterback.

He went on to discuss his failed two-point conversion as well. The 30-year-old said he was mad at himself for not tagging the pylon earlier with two hands instead of diving like he did.

As for how frustrating the loss is for Prescott because they were so close to a win, he says it all comes down to believing in his team and knowing the opponent they faced.

“Give them all the credit in the world on both sides of the ball and their coaching staff, their players, this atmosphere. You got to give all that credit, and then so there’s no moral victories in this. I can promise you that. Not by any means but by being inches away. We know we’re doing the right thing,” said Prescott.

He went on to say at this point, the team needs to find a way to continue to find ways to improve in how they are working right now.

Although the Cowboys left Lincoln Financial Field with the loss, Prescott says there were successes the team will take with them moving forward from the loss.

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s Undeniable Chemistry

One of the successes to come out of the game was his chemistry with CeeDee Lamb being on full display once again.

Lamb had 11 receptions for 191 yards on Sunday, surpassing his career high of 158 he had last week.

Prescott credits the trust and chemistry the two share with the amount of work the receiver put into his game in the offseason.

The quarterback said although a lot of guys put work in during that time, there were days when Lamb and he were throwing together, adding, “When that happens, there becomes communication and a chance to talk, a chance to just get on the same page.”

He also credited Mike McCarthy and Brian Schottenheimer for their play designs that allowed Lamb to utilize the strengths in his game.

But for Prescott, he says it’s all “CeeDee Lamb being CeeDee Lamb” and the big-time player that he is.

Prescott’s Trust for the Guys Around Him

Not only did Prescott pass the ball to Lamb throughout the night, but there were more offensive weapons put to use with the play-calling.

Jalen Tolbert got his first career touchdown, and Schoonmaker would have had his second if the call wasn’t reversed.

The veteran quarterback says the younger guys in the room are doing things the right way with their everyday approach.

Overall, the quarterback knows the team can’t dwell on this loss and must start their preparations for the Giants next week.
