Curtis Samuel Free Agency Predictions: Potential Landings Spots Include Chiefs, Raiders, and Cowboys

Curtis Samuel remains one of the fastest and best free agent wide receivers still out there. Here's why the Chiefs and Raiders are among the top fits.

The stacked NFL free agency market for wide receivers is starting to dry out as the big names are finalizing their spots for 2024.

Curtis Samuel, however, remains a notable wideout still seeking a future home. The speedy Washington Commanders WR could still have suitors out there as teams are still searching for perimeter and slot help. Time to dive into who remains the best fits for Samuel.

Curtis Samuel Free Agency Landing Spots

Samuel is one of the top receivers who’s left now that the following moves have been made: Tee Higgins being given a franchise tag but requesting a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals, Mike Evans pivoting back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Calvin Ridley emerging as a $92 million Tennessee Titans signing.

Elsewhere, the Atlanta Falcons addressed their WR need by signing Darnell Mooney, and the New England Patriots have brought back Kendrick Bourne. But this doesn’t mean every team has addressed its receiver needs. Here’s who could still make a run at Samuel.

Tyreek Hill Believes Samuel Is a Kansas City Chiefs Fit

The defending Super Bowl champions remain in search of additional wide receiver help. A former beloved Chief, Tyreek Hill, even endorsed Samuel to land in K.C.

One closer look into a strength attached to Samuel’s game makes it easy to see why Samuel could fit.

He once blazed his 40-yard dash in 4.31 seconds during his 2017 NFL Combine workout. As fans and defenses across the league know, the Chiefs love throwing speed out on the football field. Samuel could be considered an underrated addition to the back-to-back champs. It helps that “Cheetah” is in his corner.

Las Vegas Raiders Have Future WR Room

Meanwhile, in the AFC West, the Las Vegas Raiders have sudden room in the WR department.

Pro Bowler Hunter Renfrow has already announced his departure from the franchise. This now leaves head coach Antonio Pierce some room to add extra help for All-Pro Davante Adams.

While Pierce is attempting to create a bully ball approach in Sin City, he grew up watching the Los Angeles Raiders teams go after speed at wideout. In the case of Samuel, he gives the Silver and Black a needed downfield slot threat.

Could Dallas Cowboys Make a Deal With a Rival?

Or another question: If you can’t beat them, do you join them? Such is the case here for the Dallas Cowboys and Samuel.

The former Ohio State WR is 1-4 in his career versus the Cowboys, and Dallas swept the 2023 regular season series. Although, Samuel delivered one of his best games last season against them — a nine-catch, 100-yard outing on Nov. 23.

But with Michael Gallup expected to leave via trade or release, this creates an opportunity for Dallas to add a replacement and possible No. 2 or No. 3 option next to CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys need more consistency outside of its top receiving option. Samuel could be viewed as a cheaper, veteran option that’ll take some pressure off Dallas turning to the NFL Draft for a WR.

    Buffalo Bills Present Reunion Possibility

Samuel did some of his best NFL work with Joe Brady as his offensive coordinator on the Carolina Panthers.

Brady is now handling the OC reins for the Buffalo Bills. It just so happens the Bills have their own WR opening.

Gabe Davis is off to the Jacksonville Jaguars. All-Pro Stefon Diggs will need some additional help in the air attack. Given Samuel’s knowledge of the offense and his past success (Samuel delivered career-bests of 77 catches and 851 yards in 2020) alongside Brady, he can be viewed as an underrated addition to the Bills’ offense and a strong field-stretcher option.
