The offseason for the Dallas Cowboys has officially begun, and they are already making moves.
The Latest Updates on the Cowboys’ Reserve/Futures Deals
On Wednesday, the team signed three players to reserve/futures deals.
A reserve/futures deal is only open to NFL players who aren’t on 53-man rosters at the end of a season. But they also control these players from negotiating with other teams as well.
Those three players were:
- WR Martavis Bryant
- RB Malik Davis
- RB Snoop Conner
Bryant and Davis were retained by the Cowboys on these deals. Meanwhile, Conner is a new face for the organization.
RB Malik Davis
Davis has been with the Cowboys for the last two seasons. He acted as the team’s backup running back in 2022 when Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard were unavailable.
He had his most productive performance in the 2022 Divisional Round against the 49ers after Pollard was ruled out of the game with a broken leg.

This season, he was in the running for the team’s RB2 spot after Elliott departed, but the position was ultimately given to Rico Dowdle.
Davis was on the team’s practice squad but quickly ran out of elevations.
With Pollard and Dowdle hitting free agency this offseason, Davis could have another shot at taking a final roster spot.
WR Martavis Bryant
Bryant was signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad in November. He was a fourth-round draft pick by the Steelers in 2014.
However, in 2015, during his second season with the Steelers, he served a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
Another violation would end up getting Bryant banned for the entirety of the 2016 season. After that, he returned to the Steelers in 2017 under a conditional reinstatement and played 15 games.
He was traded to the Raiders in 2018 and would eventually encounter an indefinite suspension by the NFL.
Commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated the receiver last year and allowed him to play in the NFL again.
The Cowboys were the only team to work him out and added him to the practice squad.

RB Snoop Conner
The Jaguars drafted Conner in the fifth round in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he made eight appearances during his rookie season.
The Jaguars then waived him, re-signed him to the practice squad, and he was a free agent until the Cowboys signed him.
