Cowboys Superstar Dak Prescott Breaks Silence on Eagles’ Super Bowl Win, Says It’s ‘Our Turn’ To Hoist Lombardi Trophy

Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury in Week 9 all but ended the Dallas Cowboys’ shot at a playoff run. After a disappointing season for “America’s Team,” their franchise quarterback is still full of belief looking forward.

    Disappointment for the Dallas Cowboys

Outside of the Kansas City Chiefs, no fanbase hated seeing the Philadelphia Eagles lift the Lombardi Trophy in New Orleans than that of the Dallas Cowboys. What will go down as a terrible season in Dallas was made far more painful by their fiercest rivals going all the way in such impressive fashion.

Heading into the offseason with question marks over his durability, among a host of other issues that need addressing, Prescott seems unfazed. The Cowboys entered the 2024 season coming off a 2023 Wild Card Round loss to the Green Bay Packers. That game saw Prescott and star receiver CeeDee Lamb falter, and there were question marks over the former’s championship pedigree.

But regardless of opinions, the star quarterback was dearly missed once he was gone in 2024. Without a functioning run game, Dallas couldn’t rely on backup Cooper Rush to lead the team in the same way. After rallying to give themselves a shot with four wins from Week 12 to Week 16, they still fell short of a playoff berth.

Dak Prescott Remains Confident About Cowboys

Despite the troubles that plagued his team in 2024 and the incredible roster that their rivals have assembled, Prescott remains confident even after a down season that resulted in a No. 30 finish in PFSN’s QB+ metric with a grade of 65.7 (D).

Speaking to reporters after Super Bowl 59, the Dallas quarterback was asked how far he thought the Cowboys were behind the Eagles.

“I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat them,” said Prescott.

“I don’t wanna say, ‘Check the record,’ when the other guy’s holding the trophy right now. So credit to them, they earned it and they deserve it.”

“Yeah, very close. Especially when you watch the NFC game, the NFC Championship. Those two teams, teams that we battle against each and every year a couple of times, and as I said, I feel confident.”

Prescott again paid tribute to the Eagles but finished with a bullish statement.

“It’s our turn and it’s on us.”

    Cowboys To Bounce Back

Prescott has every right to feel confident. Dallas has made the playoffs the last three seasons that he’s been healthy and in five of his seven total healthy seasons. While not as mobile as he was early in his career, Prescott is the leader of his team and a premier passer of the football.

If Dallas can retain their key pieces and draft well in 2025, there’s no reason they can’t be a force in the NFC moving forward.
