How Is Cowboys’ CB Stephon Gilmore Managing His Shoulder Injury While Prepping for Sunday?

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Stephon Gilmore gave an update on his shoulder injury on Wednesday after practice.

Gilmore is dealing with a separated shoulder after it popped out of place on Sunday, requiring the Cowboys’ medical staff to reset it. But with the Cowboys gearing up for an NFC Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Gilmore is a crucial part of the defense and is needed in this matchup.

The Latest Update on Stephon Gilmore

Gilmore spoke to the media on Wednesday after practice gave an update on how he is progressing as Sunday inches closer.

Overall, the veteran cornerback said he is feeling good and taking things “day by day” this week. Despite the injury, he is still involved in the game plan and preparation for the Packers.

“Looking forward to it, confident. We got a great opportunity in front of us trying to take full advantage of it because, as you know, it’s not easy to get here, so we’re gonna need everybody,” said Gilmore.

This is an injury Gilmore hasn’t had in the past, but he says he is relying on the team’s medical staff’s treatment to strengthen his shoulder.

Gilmore explained that there is a chance he will wear a protective harness out of precaution when he plays. Gilmore says he has previously played with a harness and it doesn’t limit him in any way, but playing with confidence is key.

“That’s my main thing, just going out there and being me, and not really think about it,” said Gilmore. As for his game preparation, Gilmore likely will test his shoulder on Thursday.

The veteran says this is just another adversity he will play through, and it comes with the territory of the job. He says his focus is to “make it work” despite the injury. He said he has played through a lot in the last 12 years, that this is just another obstacle to deal with, and that he will “be successful at it.”

The Cowboys will need Gilmore in the secondary to have a chance to slow down the Packers’ air attack with Jordan Love in command of the offense.
