Disappointing is the best way to describe the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 season. An offseason where Jerry Jones planned on going “all in” saw them pass on every prominent free agent and start the season with a thin running back room.
Then, injuries to Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, and others during the season further derailed the Cowboys, and they finished with just seven wins on the year.
Dallas finished 23rd in the NFL in PFSN’s Offense+ metric and is now being predicted to make a move for top 2025 NFL Draft prospect Tetairoa McMillan, who would give them a massive pass catcher opposite star receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Cowboys Projected To Pick Tetairoa McMillan at No.12 in 2025 NFL Draft
The Cowboys stabilized for a few weeks under Cooper Rush, leading to an impressive 4-1 stretch. However, Dallas shut Lamb down for the season after the All-Pro receiver aggravated his right shoulder injury in Week 16.
An outmatched unit floundered over the final two weeks against playoff teams in the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, indicating where this unit really stood this year.
The Cowboys need reinforcements on offense and defense, both of which ranked outside the top 20 last year in PFSN’s Offense+ and Defense+ metrics. As a result, PFSN’s Brentley Weissman sees them making a bold move for McMillan as their No. 12 pick to boost the offense.
“Dallas finally stops McMillan’s mini fall here as they look to pair the big-bodied pass catcher with superstar receiver CeeDee Lamb.
McMillan is my highest-ranked receiver in this class if you don’t count Travis Hunter, and McMillan is one of the safest prospects in this class, too. McMillan shares a lot of similarities with Drake London and will give Dak Prescott a reliable option and another red-zone target.”

McMillan enters the 2025 NFL Draft as one of the best receivers in the class. While the top-end talent does not compare to recent seasons, McMillan is highly regarded independent of this fact.

As a sophomore with the Arizona Wildcats, he earned All-American honors and totaled 1,402 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. He continued dominating as a junior, finishing as a Biletnikoff Award finalist and an All-American.
The Hawaiian native opted to forego his fourth season, electing to put his name in the 2025 NFL Draft pool and looking to become the next great receiver to enter the NFL. If the Cowboys manage to get him at No. 12, he could function as the ideal WR2 alongside Lamb — a 6’5″ threat who would give Prescott another elite receiving option.
