CeeDee Lamb has made his stance clear — he wants the Dallas Cowboys to add offensive firepower for the upcoming season. After restructuring his contract to free up $20 million in cap space, the 25-year-old star wideout called on the front office to add a reliable second receiver to the team, potentially in the 2025 NFL Draft.
It seems Lamb’s wish may come true, as PFSN’s Ian Cummings predicts the Cowboys will select one of the most well-rounded receiver prospects, Matthew Golden, in the first round of his mock draft.

Cowboys Projected To Pair CeeDee Lamb With Matthew Golden
The Cowboys’ passing game struggled last season, ranking 21st in scoring. This was largely due to a lack of reliable weapons beyond Lamb. Jalen Tolbert was the team’s second-leading receiver with just 610 yards, while KaVontae Turpin followed with 420 yards.
Thus, Dallas could benefit from adding a dynamic rookie from the 2025 NFL Draft, and Lamb recently said he wants a WR2 who can complement him.
“I like a lot of them actually,” Lamb told RG. “There’s a bunch of pieces that stood out. I like T-Mac [Tetairoa McMillan] from Arizona, for one. I like Luther [Burden III] from Missouri. The list could go on. I like Emeka [Egbuka] from Ohio State and Tez Johnson [from Oregon].”
“I’m not really pressed about having whoever. It doesn’t matter, as long as you come here ready to work, I’m excited to teach you, excited to work and just gradually gravitate towards instilling you in this offense. It’s gonna be fun with whoever,” the Dallas WR added.
One prospect that could immediately elevate the offense and serve as the perfect WR2 alongside Lamb for Dallas would be Golden, who could be available at No. 12 overall.
“If Brian Schottenheimer’s Dallas Cowboys stint is to be successful, CeeDee Lamb needs more help on offense. Matthew Golden profiles as an excellent WR2. His 4.29-second speed is the most marketed plus, but on tape, his speed is eclipsed by his route running and tracking,” Cummings wrote in his latest mock draft.
Golden has been the subject of plenty of buzz in recent weeks after becoming the second-fastest player at the NFL Combine, only behind Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.28 seconds.
Golden is a coordinated, intelligent route runner with impressive body control attacking the ball in the air. He doesn’t have an elite physical trait, but he’s a well-rounded target who should be a strong complementary starting receiver alongside Lamb.
Matthew Golden is the ONLY Wide Receiver in NFL History to hit these marks:
➖190+ lbs
➖Run a SUB 4.30
➖950+ Receiving YardsHe ranked 1st in 20+ Yard Receptions (23)
The wildest part?

Golden’s College Career
The 21-year-old started his career at Houston, contributing early with 38 receptions for 584 yards. He also set the Cougars’ true freshman record for receiving touchdowns with seven while finishing second in the nation among freshman receivers in TD receptions.
As a sophomore, Golden started nine games but missed three due to injury. He finished the season with just 404 yards and six touchdowns on 38 receptions. He was also recognized as a second-team All-Big-12 kick returner.
Heading into his junior season, Golden entered the transfer portal and went to Texas, where he exploded for 987 yards, 58 receptions, and nine touchdowns. He was a key contributor to the Longhorns’ late-season run in the College Football Playoff, particularly against Arizona State, where he dominated with 149 yards, seven receptions, and one touchdown.
