Here's the latest Dallas Cowboys news, including an updated mock draft and 2025 free agency rankings involving Dak Prescott.

The Dallas Cowboys have been underneath a magnifying glass all offseason after losing some key players in free agency.

However, as the NFL Draft nears, the Cowboys have an opportunity to right the ship this offseason and address some holes throughout their roster.

    Dallas Cowboys News Today

The Cowboys have been one of the NFL’s quietest teams in free agency. They lost long-time left tackle Tyron Smith to the New York Jets and will not be extending quarterback Dak Prescott.

Despite some of the criticism of these moves, the Cowboys are expected to return a decent roster and compete for a playoff spot in the NFC. Let’s jump into some Dallas Cowboys news as NFL free agency settles down and the draft nears.

Cowboys Trade Up in Latest Mock Draft

In Brian Blewis’ latest 2024 first-round NFL mock draft, the Cowboys traded up with the Miami Dolphins to land offensive tackle Amarius Mims from Georgia.

The Cowboys jumped up three spots in this mock draft, trading the Dolphins the No. 24 overall pick as well as No. 87 overall in the third round. But more importantly, this draft selection gives the Cowboys a starting-caliber offensive lineman after losing Smith in free agency.

By making this trade with Miami, the Cowboys can leap the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles who could’ve drafted Mims due to his Georgia ties and GM Howie Roseman’s tendencies to draft linemen in the first round.

Dak Prescott Named Top 2025 NFL Free Agent

It’s rare that starting quarterbacks ever hit free agency, so when they do, there’s always interest.

We saw that happen in real time this offseason, as Kirk Cousins received a four-year, $180 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons as the most coveted QB this offseason.

Looking ahead to next offseason, Cowboys starting quarterback Prescott has been named the No. 1 free agent in 2025.

For whatever reason, as Prescott enters his ninth season with Dallas, the Cowboys still seem unwilling to commit to him as their franchise quarterback. Prescott headlines the group of free-agent quarterbacks that is set to include Jordan Love and Tua Tagovailoa, pending any future extensions.

Micah Parson’s Behavior Reportedly Wearing Thin

According to 105.3 The Fan’s Shan Shariff, the Cowboys are losing patience with star pass rusher Micah Parsons.

“I’ve heard from way too many people that if Micah Parsons was out of there, there would be a decent amount of people inside The Star in Frisco smiling or breathing a sigh of relief,” Shariff said.

While Shariff said that he’s heard this from “at least four” different people, he’s unsure how much of it is 100% accurate. Regardless, it’s a situation that bears monitoring for the superstar defender.
