Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been under fire recently for mismanaging the roster and mishandling the head coaching search.
Jones, who has refused to relinquish his title as general manager, has been constantly criticized around the NFL. The decision to hire Brian Schottenheimer has been cited as another example of continued incompetence.
That decision cannot be judged until after the 2025 season. For now, Cowboys players, or at least Micah Parsons, seemed to have rallied behind Jones.

Micah Parsons Gives Jerry Jones a Huge Vote of Confidence
While calls for the end of Jones’ tenure as general manager in Dallas grow louder, one of his greatest draft picks has rushed to his defense.
All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons, who has 52.5 sacks in four seasons (63 games), hosted a show at Super Bowl 59 and went on record to support the man paying his salary.
No beef. No disrespect. All love.
“That’s my dog,” Parsons said via Athlon Sports. “We gotta stop that Jerry Jones hate… Listen, I’m telling y’all right now, Cowboys Nation, Jerry Jones is much better as a GM than you guys think!'”

Listen, I’m telling y’all right now Cowboys Nation, Jerry Jones is much better as a GM than you guys think… I never met a man that takes better care of his players.”

Meanwhile, Jones continues to face backlash from the national media.
ESPN’s Kevin Clark believes the 82-year-old owner should consider retirement, especially if the Cowboys fail to sign Parsons to a contract extension. Remember, the 2025 NFL season will be the fifth and final one covered under his rookie deal.
“We go through this every single year where the Cowboys do the same thing,” Clark said on “Get Up.”
“It’s maddening. They just kicked the can down the road on every single superstar … it’s the reason the Eagles kick their teeth in every single year in the division. They should’ve made a Super Bowl in the last decade.”
Parsons Doesn’t Need a $40 Million Contract
As mentioned, Parsons is heading into the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. He wants a contract extension and has earned long-term stability. And, in his own words, those high-priced negotiations have started in Dallas.
“There’s definitely a plan in place, but we’ll just see how everything plays out,” Parsons told the Cowboys’ website. “There’s been no progress yet, but I’m pretty confident that something will happen, so we’ll see.”
Cowboys DE Micah Parsons made it clear that he doesn’t need to be the highest-paid defensive player. He said that would be nice, but added: “It would be nice to be surrounded by good players. Players are going to help you win championships. I want to keep as many guys as…

How much will Parsons earn? Early estimates have it in the range of $40 million per year.
That would make him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history (besting Nick Bosa at $34 million annually), although Parsons has pushed back on claims he wants that much money.
“I don’t need $40 million per year; I need to be somewhere where I can have a lake house,” Parsons half-jokingly told The Athletic.
