Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has taken a lot of heat for how he has been handling his team of late.
The latest comments about Jones come from a former player now with the Kansas City Chiefs. The player, Peyton Hendershot, highlighted Jones’ mishandling of CeeDee Lamb’s contract situation last year.
Former Cowboys TE Blasts Jerry Jones
Many may not know or be familiar with Hendershot. He played for the Cowboys from 2022 to 2024 and then signed with the Chiefs.
At Super Bowl Media Day, Hendershot was vocal about the Cowboys’ organization, particularly owner Jerry Jones, whom he blamed for mishandling Lamb’s contract negotiations.
Hendershot said, “You just think about Ceedee Lamb and how much he does for our offense, and what ball camp does for you in your season, and summer camp and OTAs and all that. And Ceedee wasn’t at one of those.”
“That’s Dak’s number one target. … We probably went four or five months without seeing Ceedee. But it just like the fact that I just feel like, when you have a player of that magnitude, like Ceedee, we know the type of player he is. You want to take care of that, you wanna get that sorted, him and Dak get their connection on it,” he said.
Current Chiefs and former Cowboys TE Peyton Hendershot noted that the chaos of last offseason for Dallas was definitely something he felt.

Hendershot wasn’t done throwing haymakers at the Cowboys, he also called them out for prioritizing image over winning.
“This is a throwing no strays, I just feel like, when I came to Kansas City, my first experience in the NFL was the Cowboys, that’s all I knew and I just feel like, here it is strictly just football and winning, nothing else but just football and winning,” Hendershot told RJ Ochoa with Blogging the Boys.
“And I feel like, with the Cowboys, it’s a little bit more of, the public image, the extracurriculars that come with it too. And here it’s just, let’s just win football.”
Hendershot is not the only one who feels that way. A lot of Cowboy fans and some media members feel as if Jones is more concerned about the Cowboys’ public image than winning football.
If you have seen the moves, or even lack of moves, the organization has made recently, it makes one wonder if Jones has the same fire he had when he first bought the team.
The team hasn’t been to the Super Bowl in 30 years, leading some fans to speculate that Jerry Jones cares less about winning and more about image and making money.
