Cowboys Fans Shocked as Jerry Jones Secures Jonathan Mingo Trade for Higher Price Than DeAndre Hopkins

    Published on

WR Jonathan Mingo was traded to the Dallas Cowboys. However, fans aren't pleased with Jerry Jones giving up a fourth-round pick to acquire him.

“We’re buying and not selling,” said Jerry Jones in an interview earlier this week. The Dallas Cowboys owner’s comments foreshadowed their activity on trade deadline day.

However, fans aren’t pleased with the final result. The Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers (and a 2025 seventh-rounder) for a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Cowboys Fans Question Jerry Jones’ Negotiation Skills in the Jonathan Mingo Trade

One NFL network insider broke the news of the impending trade of Mingo to the Cowboys on X (previously Twitter). “Trade! The Cowboys are acquiring WR Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Panthers for a 2025 fourth-round pick, per sources,” he tweeted.

However, fans were shocked to find out they’ll be giving a fourth-round pick for the WR, especially in a scenario where WRs with a better standing than Mingo have been acquired far more cheaply. “Mingo costs more than DHop??” questioned one fan on X.

The Kansas City Chiefs acquired DeAndre Hopkins for a conditional fifth-round pick, while the Baltimore Ravens got Diontae Johnson in a swap of their fifth-round pick for the Panthers’ sixth-round pick.

“Jerry and Stephen are so bad at their jobs that it’s almost comical at this point. You traded a 4th-round pick for Mingo? You could have probably got him for a 6th. What a massive overpay,” responded one fan.

“The Panthers flat out robbed the Cowboys. Dallas is the most embarrassing franchise in the NFL,” another fan added.

“Panthers got more for Mingo than they did for Diontae Johnson,” replied one fan.

“A 4th round pick!! This team is so bad at everything,” tweeted one fan.

“Classic Jerry overpay,” added a fan.

Jerry Jones Opens Up on Dak Prescott’s Injury Status

“It’s an extended period of time here,” the 82-year-old said. “I wouldn’t dare make a prediction when it could be. We’ll see kind of how his rehab goes.” He further clarified that backup QB Cooper Rush will be starting games until Prescott is fit.

The Cowboys will take on the Philadelphia Eagles, their divisional foes, next week. It will be an opportunity for Mingo and Rush to make their mark.
