‘Perfect Time To Sell, Jerry!’ — Cowboys Fans React to Dallas’ Record-Setting $10.1 Billion Franchise Valuation

The Cowboys' franchise valuation is a record-setting $10.1 billion. However, fans are frustrated that Jerry Jones isn't putting a better product on the field.

What’s more important, Dallas Cowboys fans: Ws or Bs? This year, the Cowboys have the latter (billions) but not the former (wins). When you look at the product that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have put on the field, it’s not surprising to see losses stacking up to the tune of a 5-8 record. However, if you ask Jones, he might say this is their best season yet.

Cowboys Become First Pro Sports Franchise To Reach 11-Figure Valuation

According to Forbes’ latest franchise valuations, the Cowboys are the first professional sports team to have an 11-figure valuation, as they are worth an estimated $10.1 billion.

Cowboys fans immediately expressed their frustration that the product on the field doesn’t match the amount of money that Jones and Co. bring in.

Last offseason, Jones and the Cowboys front office were heavily criticized for not being aggressive in free agency and spending more money. Still, Dallas entered this season with high expectations, but the excitement surrounding this team quickly vanished after a few ugly losses and a season-ending injury to Dak Prescott, the highest-paid QB in the NFL.

In recent weeks, the Cowboys have clearly been hampered by Prescott’s injury and struggled to find an identity on offense. Fans are clearly fed up with the current regime.

“Perfect time to sell Jerry!!” another fan added.

Defensively, the Cowboys had moments of brilliance but also struggled with consistency. Their pass rush, led by Micah Parsons, showed flashes of dominance, but the overall defensive effort has left much to be desired. The unit is often asked to do too much in order to make up for their offensive struggles. Although the team is chock full of star power, it’s become obvious that depth is a major issue.

And now we’re at the crux of the issue: depth. The Cowboys are the most valuable franchise in the world, with a valuation of over $10 billion. How can a team worth so much money and in win-now mode justify last offseason’s lack of spending?

Jones’ Cowboys, who are currently averaging the fewest rushing touchdowns per game (.3) and fifth-fewest rushing yards per game (91.2), didn’t pursue marquee RBs like Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, and Josh Jacobs during free agency last offseason. Henry has said that the Cowboys would’ve been the “perfect situation,” but they never reached out. If the Cowboys had a star RB, who knows how Dallas would have fared this season?

“Wish their ownership would spend some money to make the team better,” one fan said.

The record-setting valuation is excellent news for Jones, but it just adds to fans’ frustration, considering how the team has been managed recently. While Jones continues to lean on merch, ticket sales, and notoriety to keep his franchise afloat, it appears to be catching up with him, as he’s alienating the fans who make this franchise so successful. If the Cowboys continue to disappoint on the field, will their brand have the same luster?

“This is the dagger in the hearts of fans…” a fan added. “the jones family will do everything in their power to have that #1 spot and yet provide a bad product… Watching fans be aligned in this will lead to less people at camp, tickets and merch.”

“This is Jerry’s Super Bowl btw and he’s now won 9 straight. Feel sorry for anyone who thinks this team will make a big push to improve this roster,” added another fan.

At some point, something has to give. If Jones and the Cowboys don’t start prioritizing Ws over Bs, perhaps there will be a new franchise atop these valuation rankings in the near future.
