‘This Would Be a Blockbuster’ – Cowboys Fans Get Fresh Lease of Hope Over NFL Insider’s Deion Sanders Update

Neither Deion Sanders nor the Dallas Cowboys are strangers to making headlines, but the latest round of rumors about Coach Prime being seriously considered for the Cowboys’ head coach position has sent fans into another world.

Following a disappointing 7-10 season, owner/GM Jerry Jones and former head coach Mike McCarthy parted ways. This started a domino effect on would lead “America’s Team.” The fallout has stopped at none other than “Prime Time” himself.

Cowboys Insider Has Fans Dreaming of Deion Sanders Landing in Dallas

NFL insider Ed Werder has come out with a hopeful update for Cowboys faithful.

He tweeted, “I’m being told that [Deion Sanders] would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers to make him the next Cowboys head coach.”

This revelation and reports of a conversation between Jones and Sanders have fans dreaming big. “This would be a blockbuster big time if it happens,” tweeted one enthusiastic fan.

Another fan said, “Jerry will make up the money he’d pay to Prime and the buyout through reality TV deals on Netflix.”

“Prime time really gets anything he wants. Him and his sons will set a new culture in Dallas,” wrote one more.

Another user tweeted, “This thing is starting to feel more realistic.”

“Let’s make it happen if he can get us his son and Travis Hunter,” commented another.

“A win for the Cowboys if they hire Coach Sanders. He knows the culture, he knows the NFL, he knows winning, and players will respect him,” said one more.

Sanders has already proven his coaching acumen at the collegiate level. In his two seasons at Colorado, he took the Buffaloes from a 1-11 record in 2022 to 9-4 and a bowl game in 2024. Under his tutelage, the Buffaloes improved miles on defense, cutting their points allowed per game from 34.8 in 2023 to 23.1 in 2024.

Before arriving in Boulder, Sanders also elevated Jackson State from mediocrity to dominance, posting a 27-6 record over three seasons and earning consecutive SWAC Coach of the Year honors.

However, landing Coach Prime may require Dallas to gamble. Reports suggest that Sanders wants to coach his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, at the professional level. That’s a convoluted proposition with Dak Prescott and his hefty contract. Prescott struggled in 2024, including a career-low QB+ score of 66.0, only adding to the speculation.

Dallas issues extend well beyond the quarterback position. Their defense, once a hallmark under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, faltered after his departure to Washington. The unit was ranked 25th in the league with a DEF+ score of 69.8, a drop from its consistent top-five finishes under Quinn.

On offense, Dallas managed only six rushing touchdowns, tying for the second-lowest in franchise history, and their 1,705 rushing yards were the third-lowest since 2000.

Despite these challenges, Sanders’ charisma and winning mentality could revitalize the Cowboys. He’s no stranger to the NFL spotlight, having played five seasons with Dallas, earning four Pro Bowl selections and winning Super Bowl XXX.

Sanders’ move to Dallas is far from a done deal, but even the possibility of a Sanders—Cowboys reunion has injected fresh hope into a fan base yearning for a return to the glory days of the 1990s.
