The New York Giants are in desperate need of a quarterback, and they were rumored to be interested in Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Unfortunately for the Giants, Stafford ended up staying with the Rams on a new deal, leaving the Giants still searching to fill their hole at quarterback.
With Stafford out of the picture, the Giants could be looking toward the NFL Draft to find their new quarterback, according to an NFL Draft insider.

Giants Setting Sights on Cam Ward
The Giants currently have the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft, but, according to Todd McShay, they will try to trade up in the draft to select quarterback Cam Ward out of Miami. Here is what McShay had to say in a recent article detailing his takeaways from the NFL Combine.
“The New York Giants couldn’t reel in Matthew Stafford, as the veteran quarterback agreed to a restructured contract that keeps him with the Los Angeles Rams. Had the Giants been successful, they still would’ve considered taking a quarterback in the first round. Now, the search continues.
“They will try to bring in a veteran and have reportedly expressed interest in Sam Darnold and Aaron Rodgers. But the chatter throughout the week at the combine centered on whether the Giants, who currently have the No. 3 pick, will try to move ahead of Cleveland at No. 2 and target Tennessee’s top overall pick to select Ward.”
Despite missing out on Stafford, it looks as though the Giants are still interested in dabbling in the veteran quarterback market, while also investing a top pick at quarterback to really try and solve the quarterback issue they have had for years.
The Giants did invest a top pick at the quarterback position with the Daniel Jones selection back in the 2019 NFL Draft, a move that did not work out the way the Giants had hoped. After one playoff appearance and uninspiring play in his tenure with the team, the Giants moved on from Jones during the 2024 season.
As detailed by McShay, the order of the draft goes the Tennessee Titans at pick No. 1, the Cleveland Browns at pick No. 2, and then the Giants at three.
It appears as though Cam Ward will be the top quarterback selected in the draft, with the Giants worried that Ward will not be there at three.
With the Browns also showing interest in Ward, the Giants would need to jump them in order to get him, which is what McShay details that the Giants are attempting to do.
The Giants’ quest for a quarterback (or two) remains a hot storyline this NFL offseason.
