For years, many NFL fans have dreamed of seeing Joey and Nick Bosa terrorize quarterbacks together on the same defense. Now, with Joey’s future with the Los Angeles Chargers becoming uncertain, that dream has picked up steam—and it’s not just fans fueling the speculation. Their biggest advocate? Their own mother.
Cheryl Bosa, the proud matriarch of the pass-rushing dynasty, has made it clear that she’d love to see her sons suit up for the same team. And she’s not just hinting at it—she’s actively campaigning for it on social media.

A Mother’s Dream: The Bosa Brothers in San Francisco?
Recently, Cheryl Bosa took to Instagram to push the idea of a Bosa family reunion in the Bay Area. She posted a video collage of Joey and Nick through the years, from childhood to their NFL careers, with a caption that probably sent die-hard 49ers fans into a frenzy.
“BREAKING NEWS. Can we get a petition going on bringing @jbbigbear [Joey Bosa] to the Bay? #BosaBrothers”

That wasn’t the first time she hinted at the idea. Back in February, she reposted a photoshopped image of both Joey and Nick wearing 49ers jerseys on her Instagram story. Whether it was just a proud mom having fun or a subtle sign of something brewing, it’s clear she wants to see her sons on the same sideline.

The idea of Joey and Nick playing together has been floated before, and even the brothers themselves have acknowledged how dangerous that pairing would be.
A few years ago, Joey appeared on The Richard Sherman Podcast and was asked if there was any possibility of the two playing together in the NFL. His response?
“It might break the NFL.”
Sherman, a former 49er himself, didn’t hesitate to agree.
“It would 100% break the NFL.”

It’s not hard to see why. Nick, the Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, has been a dominant force for San Francisco since being drafted No. 2 overall in 2019. Joey, a four-time Pro Bowler, has been just as impactful for the Chargers when healthy. Putting them on the same defensive line would give opposing quarterbacks nightmares.
Could It Actually Happen?
While the idea is exciting, a few hurdles stand in the way. Joey Bosa is still under contract with the Chargers, though his future is uncertain after another dissapointing season. If Los Angeles decides to move on, a trade or post-June 1 cut could make him available.
The 49ers, already boasting one of the league’s best defenses, would have to get creative with the salary cap to fit Joey alongside Nick. But if San Francisco wants to go all-in on a Super Bowl run, pairing the Bosa brothers could be the ultimate game-changing move.
For now, it’s just speculation—but if Cheryl Bosa has her way, the NFL might not be ready for what comes next.
