Jayden Daniels, the former LSU star and Heisman Trophy winner, led the Washington Commanders to their first NFC Championship in over three decades years last season.
Daniels had one of the greatest rookie seasons in NFL history and was the centerpiece of the accelerated rebuild. While the Commanders couldn’t taste the Super Bowl in 2024, the front office is predicted to find their franchise quarterback an explosive wideout in free agency.

Commanders Predicted To Give Jayden Daniels Explosive WR Tee Higgins in Free Agency
This past season, it was all offense for the Commanders, as Daniels powered them to the eighth-ranked unit in the league, per PFSN’s Offense+ metric. But ultimately, it was three crucial turnovers (all fumbles) that ended Washington’s Super Bowl aspirations.
As a result, many believe the best route forward for Washington is to continue to upgrade its offensive weapons. That directly translates to being in on PFSN’s highest-ranked free agent, Tee Higgins.
CBS Sports’ Jordan Dajani had the same idea in mind when he predicted that Washington will offer Higgins a massive four-year, $108 million deal.
“Since Washington hit on Jayden Daniels, general manager Adam Peters understands his ‘Super Bowl window’ is open right now. He made the aggressive move to acquire New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore at the trade deadline and could make one or two splash moves this offseason.
“Our prediction is that Washington signs former Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins in free agency to a four-year, $108 million deal that carries an AAV of $27 million. That would put Higgins in the top 10 of the highest-paid wide receivers currently.”
The Commanders have the requisite cap space to make it happen, and such a deal would make sense for Higgins, who tallied 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in the 2024 season despite sharing the field with the triple crown winner, Ja’Marr Chase.
However, the biggest Achilles heel for Higgins is his health. He has missed a total of 10 games over the past two seasons and has not played a full season since his rookie year. Additionally, there were reports that he was playing through an injury down the stretch to try and help the Cincinnati Bengals make the playoffs.
That toughness will certainly be respected, but it also raises concerns. There are serious questions about Higgins’ durability, especially at such a steep price. But with Washington’s Super Bowl now open and other competitors vying for Higgins’ services, it may be best to put aside those doubts for the sake of signing a star.
